Pedagogy with Petty
Let me introduce you to Edmentum’s Study Island. Head on over to Clever and click on the icon. It’s a user friendly site, not particularly cute or flashy, but might still become your latest favorite curricular destination.
When you arrive on the site, click on Content. Choose yours, and away you’ll go!
It’s full of lessons, practice, flashcards, games, and even dreaded worksheets to help students master essential standards. (Think mastery, CBE, standards based learning.) You’ll think of all kinds of ways to spend time on your new island:
- Didactic instruction
- Practice
- Small group work
- Re-teaching for mastery
- Formative assessments
Again, the content is spot-on, and we can put a little lipstick on it so kids find it engaging. Let Kim Petty know if you’d like to co-plan a learning activity using Study Island.
We can travel there together!
Attendance Codes
2L - Tardy - mark tardies with fidelity we are sending calls to parents about tardies
1R - Learning Remotely - used when quarantined, you can change to 2A if they don't complete any work, but they shouldn't be present - call admin immediately if they show up
1D - Quarantined No Work Done - Teachers can change 1R to 1D if students fail to engage/do work during their quarantine.
Snack Cart in Front Office
The snack cart is NOT for students. It's not appropriate for teachers to buy items off the cart for students. Please refrain from this behavior as it could jeopardize funding for our school lunches and creates disturbance in the front office.
