Message from Ms. Barkley, Coordinator of Early Learning
The ELC is going to be a busy place the next couple of weeks. Below are communications that have gone home with your child. Please read these communications in their entirety and if you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher.
Throughout the week of October 17th, our teachers will be providing students instruction on ALICE. This will include a read aloud of the book I'm Not Scared, I'm Prepared and a classroom discussion of the procedures in the event that there is a threat in or near our school building. Below is a read aloud version of the book that you can use at home with your child to help them be prepared.
On October 19th, we will be recognizing Unity Day. We will have a school wide assembly with our students and staff to promote kindness, acceptance and inclusion. On this day, the students will receive their MKM ELC spirit wear t-shirt and we will be taking a group photo that will be shared with families.
On October 21st, we will have our first Parent Educational Day. There will be no student attendance this day. If you are able to attend, we will provide child care for your preK child during the event (9-11AM). Please see the communication below for further details.
On October 25th, we will be visiting the pumpkin patch and farm at Patch 22 in Wadsworth, IL. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately to be outside. All students that are in attendance will be going on the field trip. Please see the communication below for more information.
On October 31st, students can wear their halloween costumes to school and parents will be able to watch our halloween parade. Please see the communication below for further details.
