ESD
Are you in need of more clock hours for recertification before the June 30 deadline? Well, take advantage of the variety of upcoming technology trainings being offered by the Technology Learning and Leadership Department of Puget Sound ESD!
Our newest addition is an ONLINE class:
Introduction to Edmodo (ONLINE)
May 27-June 24, 2014
Course #TM9434; Fee: $150
Pending: 8 clock hours ($16)
Are you interested in an online learning platform for your school or classroom? Edmodo is a free and safe way for students and teachers to connect and collaborate online. It is a social learning network for education, connecting all learners and offering access to the world’s best resources.
Delivered completely online, this course will take place over a four-week period from May 27 to June 24. Participants will learn the basics of Edmodo: how to post and manage communication, create and manage a classroom group, use the program’s library, and give assignments and quizzes. Class content and assignments are completed at your own pace, but participants should plan to devote 2 hours per week to course activities on the Edmodo site: http://edmo.do/j/jursv2
PREREQUISITES: You must create an Edmodo teacher account (https://www.edmodo.com/) prior to class and have a computer with internet connection. Some experience with online learning helpful but not required.
Audience: K-12 teachers, teacher-librarians, and administrators

Want a quick compilation of educational and technological ideas?
Consider using Twitter.
Go to www.twitter.com and create an account. You can then search and follow various sites. Depending on your privacy settings, others can follow you as well.
Some recommendations include: @edutopia, @edudemic, @TheJesuitPost, @Pontifex, @BellarminePrep, @BPSTheLion, @degrootjody , @writesociety to name a few.
Once you have an account, you can also tweet (140 characters or less). Or simply “retweet” interesting and informative articles or ideas. Jody just retweeted a great one which talks about Twitter for Educators:

Today’s Technological Task:
Feel free to “hashtag” suggestions, activities, insights using your Twitter account and including the hashtags below.
You can search for a hashtag by using the search feature ( it looks like a magnifying glass).
If you need help feel free to ask those already using twitter: there are many out there.
#bpsobservation for Monday, March 31’s observations
#bpsinserviceapril14 for Monday, April 14’s inservice
****************************************************************************
We would love to see you try Twitter as a technological and transformative tool.
Hopefully Twitter becomes intuitive, but feel free to experiment with other hashtags. Just remember to keep it professional and to use bps after the hashtag so others can discover your thoughts, e.g. #bps1weekuntilspringbreak .
