ALL GRHS STAFF AND STUDENTS MUST BE PROPERLY WEARING A MASK AT ALL TIMES IN THE BUILDING (EVEN IN THE CAFE - UNLESS EATING DURING LUNCH - AND STILL MUST BE SOCIALLY DISTANCED by sitting 4 per table). Students refusing to wear their mask will be sent home.
A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy New Year Longhorns,
2021 is here...so let's make our comeback stronger that those 2020 setbacks! I hope you enjoyed the break and were able to spend some quality time your family, unplugging from the daily grind, because spending time with the people that mean the most to us is where the true blessings are.
As we get back into the swing of "school" things, I just wanted to remind everyone of a couple of important things regarding second semester schedules and mandatory COVID safety protocols and procedure expectations.
- It's the beginning of the second semester, so that means class leveling HAD to happen, and that combined with modality changes and class change requests that have been submitted, schedules can be fluctuating all the way through Monday. Please check your schedule Monday evening or early Tuesday morning in SKYWARD to see your FINIALIZED schedule. If you need a hard copy, and do not have a printer at home, you can stop by the library on Tuesday morning and print one.
- It is imperative that EVERYONE is following the COVID protocols and procedures we have in place, especially since there were MANY gatherings over the holidays. We will still have approximately 1800 students and 200 staff members back this semester in the building, so it is more important than ever to continue following the protocols -proper wearing of masks (nose and mouth covered at all times), cleaning of personal space upon entering each classroom (wipes and hand sanitizer provided in every classroom), and following all the safety protocols and procedures that we have in place. These are the same ones that I personally review every day on the announcements since day one.
Let's keep being smart and stay safe by adhering to the face to face expectations by properly wearing those masks, sanitizing regularly, and following social distancing protocols to the best of our ability. Any student refusing to follow the rules will be given disciplinary consequences, which will in turn affect their semester exam exemptions. Let's all do our part to keep GR the PLACE to be... especially for those of us CHOOSING to be face to face.
The front office will open back up on January 4th (by phone or email) to assist you with anything before the 1st day back for students on Tuesday, January 5th. 832-223-4200. If you need to come in for something, please don't forget to wear your mask, it's mandatory inside our building even when you are just running in to drop something off. Thanks for following our safety protocols to help keep everyone safe and healthy to kick off 2021!
Thank you so much to all our parents and students reaching out to your Assistant Principal for questions and assistance. Please CONTINUE to email your (or your student's) Assistant Principal , as they can assist you the quickest.

COVID RISK LEVEL - STILL RED
Lamar CISD has a color-coded COVID-19 Risk Level system that aligns with Fort Bend County’s health guidance.
The CURRENT color is STILL Red. This means face coverings are required for all staff, visitors and students in 4th through 12th grades, EVERYWHERE on campus.
For more information on the District’s color-coded risk levels and safety protocols, click here.
CDC COVID-19 Quarantine Guidance -Changes!
Earlier this month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) amended their COVID-19 quarantine guidance to allow two shorter options for the quarantine period.
Beginning Jan. 4, 2021, the District’s COVID-19 quarantine guidelines will be updated based on this guidance from the CDC, as well as guidance from TEA and UIL. This update does not impact individuals with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 positive test.
Individuals identified as being exposed to someone with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 positive test will be quarantined based on the following:
- 10 days after the last close contact, so long as they continue to monitor themselves daily for symptoms and take appropriate precautions through day 14
- 7 days after the last close contact, after receiving a negative test result (administered at least 5 days after the last close contact), so long as they continue to monitor themselves daily for symptoms and take appropriate precautions through day 14
Individuals who return to school or work from these shorter quarantine windows should regularly monitor themselves to ensure they remain symptom-free and take appropriate precautions for the duration of the 14-day incubation period. Individuals who develop symptoms at any time during the 14-day incubation period should not report to school or work.
Click here for more COVID-19 exposure and quarantine information.
