Bobcat PRIDE
Sunset Valley Elementary - week of February 12 - February 16
The Principal's Den
These students did a fantastic job of sharing what they learned in Reading & Writing this week and why they think it is important to learn. They are certainly showing their Bobcat PRIDE by being dedicated to their learning. This principal is VERY proud!
Thank you Ellie, Maddie, Mason, Griffin & Finn!
Valentine's Grams
Dude Be Nice Week!
Dude Be Nice Week is designed to show kindness to all members of our SVES community! We want everyone to know that we love them and we want to be intentionally kind to others! Please see the table below for the theme and dress up attire for each day.
We are asking each grade level to work together to spotlight a specific area of SVES. Teachers are working on a way to celebrate that group and make them feel special!
Keeping Bobcats Healthy
Has your student been sick? Please remember students cannot attend school until fever free for 24 hrs without medication or clearance from a doctor. Any positive flu tests should be reported to Nurse Liz or anyone in our front office. We have to report our numbers to the State Department of Health, which helps track flu cases.
Let's keep all our Bobcats healthy! Take your kids to the doctor & keep your kiddos home if they are showing signs of flu!!

The Winter Olympics
The start to the 2018 Winter Olympics is just around the corner! Opening ceremonies are going to be held Friday, February 9th in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Here at SVES, our plan is to have each grade level track the medals for a specific country. One of our teachers has volunteered to make a medal race board down in the entry hallway. Each grade level will then update the number of medals each day to see how each country is doing in the games. Grade levels will be tracking the following medal counts:
Kinder – Norway
1st – Canada
2nd – Austria
3rd – Netherlands
4th - Germany
Box Tops Pick a Prize
How Do You Make a Teacher Smile? One way is CHOCOLATE!
Coffee with Kristen
Join ME for Coffee with Kristen. Parents are invited to stop by to talk about our wonderful school. I will be happy to answer any questions about the work we are doing in our classrooms which support our Bobcat Vision, "to create an optimal learning experience that promotes ongoing collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and communication with students, teachers, parents, and community members for the success of all students."
Our next date will be:
Tuesday, February 20th from 8:00 am - 9:00 am
We will have coffee available!
Attendance Data
I wanted to continue to share our percentage for attendance. We always strive to have ALL students in school each and every day. But we do understand when fever/sickness hits and we want you to help your child get well.
Did you know we now have 420 students?
Here are our attendance rates by six weeks so far for the 2017-18 school year:
- 1st 6 weeks - 96.8%
- 2nd 6 weeks - 96.4%
- 3rd 6 weeks - 96.6% **
For the 4th 6 weeks, let's make our goal to be at or above 96.8% for ALL grade levels.
As of 2/9/18, our attendance rate for the 4th 6 weeks is 93.9%
