Counselor's Corner
Counseling Corner:
To kick off a great start to Kindergarten, Mrs. Ross (School Counselor) and Mrs. Sharpsteen (School Social Worker) are going to be leading weekly lessons in each Kindergarten class for the first five weeks of school. They will be using Zones of Regulation and Second Step curriculum to help students adjust to school and classroom routines. Zones of Regulation gives us a framework to talk about our emotions. Students can use a color zone to describe their feelings/body control rather than thinking of the right word. Second Step is a curriculum used to teach social skills and fits in perfect with the start of the school year for Kindergarten. Use this Zones of Regulation language to help talk through feelings with your child(ren).
