2012 Collaborative Conference
for Student Achievement
21st Century Learning
Students of this day and age are learning in new and more advanced ways. We as teachers and parents have the responsibility of adapting our teaching strategies at school and on the homefront. Students respond and learn more as we find ways to reach them on their level.
Way Back Then
One room. One teacher. All grades combined. Paper and pen/pencil.
Then
Multiple rooms. Several teachers. Several grade levels. Paper/pencil or typewriting.
Now
Students collaborate in class and on the internet. Co-teaching is highly encouraged. Technology is a top priority. Not all learning is done with paper/pencil.
What can teachers do?
Connect with other teachers/educational experts to gather and share teaching tools and ideas towards meeting the needs of our students.
Allow for student exploration to flourish as it is important for us to teach them in the ways that they learn best, not in the ways that we teach best.
Embrace change with a positive attitude and open mindset.
What can parents do?
Allow adequate time for your child to be exposed to technology. There are several free educational resources available to you and your child!
Encourage your child to be creative, to be a leader, and to positively communicate with their peers.
Embrace change with a positive attitude and open mindset.
