Please join us for our first PTO meeting on Wednesday, September 18 at 7:00pm in the Millsap Library. All are welcome!
PTO Activity Fee
Have you paid your student activity fee? This fee helps offset the cost of many activities your child will participate in throughout the school year including: 2 classroom parties, field day, field day shirts, cultural arts field trip expenses and the student directory. The cost is $10.00 per student.
Help your student’s homeroom win a Bahama Bucks Party! The class that has the highest percentage of paid Activity Fees by September 25 will win!
Thank you!
Thank you to all the parents that donated to our first teacher luncheon! We were able to give all our teachers, administration, and staff an amazing taco and nacho lunch! Also, thank you to all the families that made our first fundraiser at Urban Air a success!

Notes from our Nurse
Medication Administration
ALL Over-the-Counter meds must be new and unopened.
Medication is to be delivered and picked up by a parent or guardian and brought to the clinic in the original container labeled with child's name, name of the medication and directions for the time and dosage. Physician's name must be on prescription medication. Students may not carry medications - including cough drops.
Guidelines for Keeping Sick Children Home from School
A sick child who is unable to participate in school in a meaningful way should be kept home to rest and recover until symptoms resolve. Keeping a sick child home also protects other children, school staff, and visiting community members from contracting an illness that can be spread from person to person. Please be aware of the following guidelines for school attendance.
- Fever: A child should remain home with fever greater than 100° F and should only return after he/she has been fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medicine such as Tylenol or Motrin.
- Diarrhea/Vomiting: A child with diarrhea and/or vomiting should stay at home and return to school only after being symptom free for 24 hours.
- Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye): Following a diagnosis of pink eye, a child may return to school 24 hours after the first dose of prescribed medication has been administered.
If you take your child to a healthcare provider for an illness, please be sure to request a written letter stating when your child may return to school.
Change of Clothing
Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade students should bring a change of clothes in their backpack in case of restroom emergencies. Thank you!
Nurse Raney, RN
Dear Parent or Guardian,
At the beginning of the school year, parents of students attending a campus receiving Title I funds must be notified that they may request information regarding professional qualifications of your child’s classroom teachers.
The federal law requires the school district to provide you this information in a timely manner if you request it. Specifically, you have the right to request the following information about each of your child’s classroom teachers:
- · teacher certificate and licensure for the grades and subject taught;
- · college major or information regarding advanced degrees; and
- · qualifications of teacher aides or similar paraprofessionals who provide services to a child.
If you would like to receive this information, you may contact the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Human Resources Department at 281-897-4099.
Parents, watch this one-minute video about eWallet! Easier than sending cash with your children for the Book Fair!
Absence Notes
Please remember that whenever your child is absent, we must have a note from you explaining why the absence occurred.
All notes must include the child’s first and last name, the date of absence, the reason for the absence, and your signature. If you have a doctor’s excuse please attach it to your note.
Feel free to use the attached form and make copies for future use.
Thank you!
Counselor's Corner
Our Big Idea this month is trust.
Trust is putting your confidence in someone you can depend on. “Be true to your work, your word, and your friend.” -Henry David Thoreau. These acts are ways to show that you are trustworthy.
How do we help our children to be trustworthy? Discuss or ask them can you be trusted when you are asked to take on a responsibility at home, school, church, etc., and you follow through and carry out the task to the best of your ability. Additionally, you can be trusted when you are on time, organized, and consistent. When you do these things, people will put their trust in you because they have confidence that you can be depended upon.
BOX TOPS ARE CHANGING!!
You’ll now download the new user-friendly Box Tops App, register, add Millsap Elementary, and then scan eligible receipts containing Box Tops products!
Millsap will earn 10 cents for each Box Tops product purchased plus extra earnings for any Bonus Box Tops opportunities. The app will automatically add Box Tops to Millsap's earnings online, giving visibility to see how you are supporting your school in real-time.
Keep clipping regular Box Tops and sending them to Millsap as long as you continue to find them on packages. We will still get credit for all Box Tops submitted!
More good news: you can ‘double dip’ during the packaging transition by clipping the physical Box Tops AND scanning your receipt with those participating items.
They seem like little things that really won’t make a difference, but they DO!
Since 2010, Millsap has received over $10,300 – a dime at a time!!
Millsap appreciates the time and effort you put into collecting BoxTops!
