Hattie G.

My theme is:

Don't give up on your dreams, because one day they will come true.

My theme is this because:

My dream one day is to become a national champion. I have been riding for 4 years, and that still hasn't happened yet. But it is still my goal in life, and I don't plan on giving up on that anytime soon.

The setting of my story is at the barn or at shows. During the summer I am always at the barn practicing to become the best rider I can be. During the school year I go after school as much as possible. Since summer is our show season, I also spend a lot of time in cars traveling to different shows around the country. The farthest drive ever was a 16 hour drive to Albuquerque New Mexico! But I didn't mind it too much, because I got to go and show my horses and show everybody what I am capable of.

Why is this setting important to my story?

Well, without the barn there would be no riding, no practicing, and I defenitely would'nt be where I am with horses today. Without the show setting, I don't think that this story would exist. To show is what makes this up, and without showing, I wouldn't be able to become a national champion, or probably wouldn't be into horses at all.

How would my story be different if my setting was different?

My life would be completely changed. Horses bring to my life an indescribeable amount of happiness. And I defenitely would not be the rider I am today without them.

How have these events contributed to my theme?

I am geting towards my goal little by little. I haven't given up yet, and I dont plan on it either. By getting my two horses I got to start this crazy, wonderful, journey. If I wasn't riding horses, I wouldn't be as happy. I would probably be playing some other sport that I don't even enjoy. I wouldn't have my two wonderful horses, and I wouldn't know any of the people I know today.

This song, "Compass", by Lady Antebellum, reminds me a lot of my theme because the lyrics say a lot about chasing your dreams and not giving up on them untill you get there.
