STEAM LAB
The students have selected an area to explore in our STEAM lab! We are so thrilled to have the resources to support a variety of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math learning experiences.
Curriculum
INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION:
Students have selected an area of passion to research. We have checked out books and are in the process of writing essential questions to drive our research. The variety of topics selected are amazing. Ask your child what he/she plans to study!
MATH:
This year, we are offering more choice and voice in math! To start the year, students chose to participate in one of 3 groups: 10 Things Mathematicians and Scientist should know but are rarely taught , Algebra, or math competition. We'll continue our work in these groups throughout the next few months before moving on to additional choices. The engagement in math has been spectacular!
SCIENCE:
This year we will focus on learning the scientific method and more about ourselves through a variety of social science experiments. We are learning important vocabulary: independent variable, dependent variable, control, qualitative and quantitative science.
CRITICAL THINKING:
We have spent time working with associative reasoning puzzles and are learning vocabulary words that will help us think critically in PEAK.
