What's Up at Wolfe?
October 9th - 13th
Conaton Corner
Wolfe Warriors experienced a week filled with Joy and Connection, both in the building and in the classroom. Our teachers work hard every day to bring relevant and exciting curriculum to your students and for activities that provide connections to one another and to Wolfe Middle School.
There is nothing that says community like a homecoming parade! Center Line is blessed to have a strong school system and community. Many times I was reminded of the importance our school has on the members of our community. The parents cheering their kids on in the band, little kids waving to the beautiful homecoming court nominees, or alumni yelling out to an old teacher they had, the connection our Center Line Community has with our school district is vital. If you are not registered to vote for our upcoming bond on November 7th, the deadline is Tuesday. Please give us a call so we can help you register. If you are looking for more information on the bond or you want to speak with someone, check out http://www.clps.org/apps/pages/bondinfo or call 586-510-2300.

Social Media and It's Impact in School
Green - Hallways during passing time, before/after school, and during lunch - Student may use cell phones
Yellow - Classrooms - Students must be given permission to be on cell phones in class.
Red - Safety Drills, Assemblies, 6th Grade Classrooms - phones are not to be out at all.
These are areas we have some control over. The biggest issue is what happens on social media outside of the school day. Middle school age students struggle with developing conflict resolution skills and the amount of conflicts that occur outside of the school day on social media can be staggering. Cruel and hurtful words/images are posted, typed, and sometimes shared with a few to sometimes hundreds of people. This behavior is a huge distraction to students in a school setting with access to phones and social media at any time.
We will be covering cyber bullying and social media safety within our Advisory classes throughout the year. Our Warrior Room has been very active over the last few weeks dealing with conflicts resulting from social media misuse. Please be aware - check your child's phone and the contents inside. Commonsensemedia.org has a number of resources for parents relating to social media use and abuse.
The brief video below is titled Five Ways to Stop Cyberbullies. One of the ways is Record the Evidence. If you are able to capture what you believe is bullying or threatening behavior, save it and bring to our attention. Please talk with your children about appropriate social media use and be aware of what they are doing and who they are talking to. Wolfe Middle School takes bullying seriously and the more information we have the better we can support your child.

Athletics at Wolfe
The fall sports season is underway and our student athletes and coaches are hard at work.
All of our Warriors participating in extracurricular Athletics are working vigorously to go above and beyond. If you ever have questions or concerns we ask all of our families to please respect the 24 hour rule after competition. That means there should be NO discussion about the game or practice immediately following a competition for at least 24 hours. After the period is over feel free to contact the Coach or myself in regards to any questions or concerns.
We are looking forward to an exciting and fun filled fall season.

Order in the Court!
On Friday October 6th, Mr. Moss' US History classes participated in a role play/mock trial putting Columbus & his compatriots on trial. The classes have been studying the consequential effects of European involvement in the Americas after 1492. In the trial, they asked who was responsible for the monstrous crimes of mass death of the Tainos people, the first Americans Columbus encountered.
Escape Room Challenge
Counselor Connection
Counselors have launched a new program at Wolfe called PAT (Peer Academic Tutoring). Students have the opportunity to sign up and come to D102 during their lunch to receive help with school work from one of their peers. PAT will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during all lunches. Counselors also want to encourage parents to speak with their students about PAT if they need a little help in any of their core subjects to sign up!
Wondering how to request a PAT? Simply submit a "Request to See" and counselors will take care of the rest.
Strong Academics are an important part of being a Wolfe Warrior. All Day...Warrior Way!
Don't Forget! Early release begins this week! Wednesday, October 11th!
