Dear Copper Creek Families,

Yearbook Cover Contest!
Attention all Copper Creek Artists! If you would like to submit a drawing for our yearbook cover contest, please have a parent/guardian print out both sheets of paper. We have extended the deadline, submissions are due by 11/29/23. Please have your student submit their art work and their student information sheet to Mrs. Meyerhofer in the library. If you need extra sheets, we will have them in the library. Winners of the yearbook cover contest will all receive a free copy of the yearbook. First place will grace the cover of the yearbook. Second and third place will be on the back.

Tips:

• Please use bright colors, crayons, markers, pastels and oils can all be used.
• Please erase all extra markings on paper that might be a mistake.
• Please include Copper Creek (Elementary) and the school year (2023/2024).
• When submitting drawings please make sure that the artwork is not crinkled.

Holiday Shop!
This year our in-person holiday shop will be open from Monday, November 27th - Friday, December 1st.

We anticipate this shop to be our largest shop yet with prices ranging from $0.25 - $10.00. Please see link at bottom to visit our PTSA store to purchase snowman cash for you child. Which is our version of a gift certificate.

We will be looking for volunteers to help in our store. If you have time to spare please consider signing up. All volunteers must be volunteer trained.

Show your school spirit by purchasing a student membership!
All student memberships include your student's class t-shirt. Class shirts are worn throughout the year on event and spirit days, field trips and membership days, which is something new for this school year.

• Student membership - $20 per student and includes class shirt

We have on hand a select amount of spirit shirts that mimic our homeroom class shirts. They are black in color, with the large bobcat design on the back and are unisex. The cost is $20.00. Below you will find information regarding opportunities for gifted services testing. Request for testing are submitted directly to DVUSD District Services and cannot be accepted through the school.

This year DVUSD will universally test all 2nd and 4th graders.

4th grade testing will take place the weeks after Thanksgiving Break. Information regarding opting out for 4th grade was already communicated through a Blackboard email.

If you do not wish your 2nd grader to be tested, a link for opting out will be available on the DVUSD Gifted Services website beginning Dec. 4th, and must be submitted by January 1st. Website T

Testing for all other grade levels requires registration by parents/guardians on the DVUSD Gifted Services website. This is the direct Link. Registration is open until Jan 1st. Only students registered at this link will be tested and late registrations are not accepted. Students who were tested this year in the Fall cannot be retested at this time.

It is important that our Bobcats are responsible at recess.

Some ways to be a responsible Bobcat during recess are: only playing tag in the designated grassy areas, staying in the areas where teachers can see you and using the playground structure appropriately.

What Parents will Need to Enroll Their Student

• Original birth certificate or a certified copy
• Immunization records
• Proof of residence (utility bill, house payment receipt, rent receipt, escrow document or lease agreement)
• Form of Identification
• Copy of legal guardian or custody papers if applicable

Open Enrollment for the 2024/2025 school year will open to parents on October 2nd, 2023 at 8:00 AM. If you want your student to attend a school that is not their home school, you will need to apply for open enrollment. Applications will be reviewed starting sometime in January. If you have a current 6th grade student and they would like to follow Copper Creek's track and Hillcrest Middle School is not their home school, you MUST complete open enrollment and choose Hillcrest or the school of your choice. Please keep in mind enrollment is based on first come first serve with a limited number of spots.
