Math Updates:
We are looking forward to planning with the primary team this week. We will focus on ways to finish strong in May and June! Please reach out to the math team if you need any support or have any questions.
Reading Updates:
Be sure to include the language of the F&P questions during GR, IRA, and EC. Remind students ahead of time that just like in Guided Reading, good readers revisit the text, and they may use the book during the comprehension conversation.
During CP Primary teachers had the opportunity discuss and share what they are using for the comprehension support during GR. Although it is listed as an optional component on the GR template, it is the comprehension that is keeping many students from making progress. Be sure to refer to the new Diagnostic Focus Checklist for reading behaviors that are needed at each level for students to be successful.
Thank you for growing our readers every day!
Social & Emotional Updates:
Thank you for all that you do. Make time for yourself to BREATHE… (see picture below)
PD Corner:
Dear Students,
I am not perfect. I am human. I can be grumpy. I can be impatient. I can even be wrong. When that happens, I will apologize. It’s my job to reflect and do better for me as a person and for you as your teacher.
Sincerely,
Your Always-Learning & Growing Teacher ♥️

Updates from Rodney:
Updates:
- Aileen and I attended the Excellence in Education Awards Dinner. We watched videos from students who talked about their teacher. Not one student discussed, PARCC, County Benchmarks or other assessments. Each student talked about relationships and how their teacher made them feel. Your relationships with students matter and if you invest in them, they will will remember your impact.
- It's Rating Season and this year I will be asking for your feedback. More details to come on Wednesday.

Glows and Grows:
During the couple of weeks leading up to Spring break, we did PBIS walkthroughs. Thank you so much for welcoming us into your rooms. Ms. Selznick and I saw many elements of PBIS throughout the building. Just a couple of reminders:
- Please take the time to recognize a student of the week. It does help with your classroom community.
- Also, use a consistent quiet symbol, one which has been taught and the students can predict. We are looking for a harmonica, but understand the need for additional call-response practices. Reinforce responses to the quiet routine with incentives.
- Use your dojo points. Give out points and provide consistent opportunities for students to trade them in. This is important so they are valuable.
Next time we will be looking for your Spring Contracts and trying to check in on restorative circles and the 5 questions.
Have a great week.
Next week will be a Writing Walk Through.
