Illinois Assessment of Readiness (Formerly known as PARCC)

State Testing takes place in March and April for all Grade 3, 4, & 5 students. This test very closely resembles the PARCC Test that we have had for the last several years.

At Hammerschmidt, our READING Testing will take place next week. All of our grade 3-5 students will be tested on the same days(Tues. 3/12, Wed. 3/13, and Friday 3/15.) MATH Testing will take place after Spring Break.

Like last year, we will be having our performances at Glenn Westlake Middle School. (GWMS is located behind Manor Hill School, on Main St. south of Roosevelt Rd. This should allow us more space to safely enjoy the show. Listed below are some important details regarding our musicals:

  • Students are asked to wear dress clothes for their performance

  • All families will enter GWMS at the Main Entrance, Door #1.

  • Doors will open at 6:40 p.m.

  • One adult will be asked to drop off your child, and then pick them up after the show at their assigned classroom.

  • Classroom teachers will supervise students during the time the students are not on stage.

PARENT NEWSLETTER: Habit #6- Synergize

Star Constellations Update

Last week we met with our Star Constellations groups to "synergize" and do some community service. In our groups we watched a short video about the local "Meals on Wheels" program serving our senior citizens. Then, each of our 31 groups did 3 projects to support clients of the Meals on Wheels program. Each of of groups did the following:

  • Made a "Tie- Blanket"
  • Decorated meal bags
  • Created greeting cards

Our goal was to create something together that could bring a smile to some of our seniors in need. Our Meals on Wheels contact selected 31 special recipients to receive our gifts. See a few pictures below!
