Refuge Youth Weekly Update

February 11th, 2016

Confirmation Class; Parent Meeting postponed to 2/21

We had an amazing weekend at Jr. High Winter Camp! It was a great time, and it was so cool to see our students grow and mature in their faith! Now we're looking ahead toward an awesome High School Winter Escape weekend at the end of the month.

Not only did we have a great weekend at camp, but we had an incredible first service of Hope Presbyterian Church. God is truly moving in this new congregation and I am so excited for the coming weeks and months. Remember that services are at 1:30pm every Sunday in the main sanctuary at Community Bible Church, 601 Natoma St. We also have our first SLUG and Youth Group programs at our new facility this weekend! I am so excited to enter this new season of Refuge Youth Ministry, and I've been especially encouraged to hear how the students want to grow our group.

SLUG will be Sundays at 12:30pm at Community Bible, meeting in the Student Center, and Youth Group will be 6-8pm Sunday evenings in the Student Center. On Sunday, 2/21, we're looking to add a community meal to our Sunday evening youth programs. Every Sunday at 5:30pm we'll be serving a dinner for our youth group families; students, parents, younger siblings, etc. are invited to share a meal with us each week! If anyone is interested in volunteering to help prepare an occasional meal, please let me know!

Finally, Confirmation Class is coming! Confirmation will be a class this Spring (for 8th-12th graders) that focuses on the foundational aspects of our Christian Faith and what it means to be a apart of a church body. Confirmation will take place Sundays, before service at 12:15pm while our regular SLUG program happens. We are holding a parent meeting on Sunday, Feb. 21st at 12:30pm to talk about exactly what Confirmation is and what it will look like. (note: early announcements had this meeting on 2/14, but we've postponed for one week to better get the word out. Sorry for the confusion!)

Once again, thank you for your continued patience and grace as we transition. Our goal continues to be consistency and excellence in our program, and we're excited to expand Refuge's ministry over the next few months. If you have any questions or concerns about anything please don't hesitate to contact me by phone/text (916) 690-0667, or by email msmccleary22@gmail.com.
