Happy Valentine's Day!
From the Principal
Dear Parents,
This week, I want to highlight the work of our community partnerships especially the one we have with Crabapple First Baptist. We are so fortunate to have a highly involved faith partner right across the street from our school. For the past two years, we have partnered with the church and they have been able to provide mentoring to a few young men in our school. The impact socially and academically has been tremendous. These mentors have made connections with teachers and you can often times spot them visiting in the café for lunch. In addition, sometimes they make outside connections with the student’s families. This week, I want to highlight the five volunteers in my newsletter and thank them for their service to our school. They are making a difference! Please see bios and photos below. Our School Governance Council has a strong belief in community partnerships and we are always looking for new and creative ways to involve the public within our school walls. If you ever have ideas or suggestions, do not hesitate to reach out to me.

georgia Milestones testing 4/15/19 - 5/13/19
The Georgia Milestones testing window will open on April 15th, 2019. Georgia Milestones will measure how well students have mastered content and skills outlined in the state-adopted standards in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The results are used for evaluation, decision-making, and instructional improvement. On March 7th, the district will conduct a system technology check where students will participate in a practice test. Students in 3rd and 5th grade will be taking the Georgia Milestones on the same dates and times in April. Students in 4th grade will take the test the first week of May. In addition to the longer testing window, students will only take one section of each content area per day except for Social Studies and Science in 5th grade. Although there are makeup testing days scheduled at the end of each grade levels completion, if time permits during the testing window, rolling makeups will take place in the afternoon. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Haltrecht our testing coordinator.
Georgia Parent Survey
The Georgia Parent Survey contains 24 questions and is part of our CCRPI Star Climate Rating. Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphone, or tablet. All parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of our School Climate Star Rating and we currently have 5 stars here at CCES. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. The Georgia Parent Survey is also available in Spanish.
