Glenealy School Newsletter
3rd December 2020
Message from Chris
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Another week brought another set of announcements regarding our situation here on the school site. As we resume our distance learning for the whole school, I would like to extend a huge thank you to our whole community for making sure the shift to home learning was as smooth and successful as possible.
The staff team is delivering the children’s learning from their homes once again. Whilst the current situation for all concerned is not ideal, it is necessary, and the entire Glenealy team will do all they can to make sure the children have a great final week of the term prior to the Winter Break.
Glenealy's ‘Sparkly Sing-Along’ - Thursday 10th December
We invite all children and parents to join us next Thursday 10th December for a

Join the Zoom ‘Sparkly Sing-Along’ wearing something sparkly or something Christmassy.
There is also a special guest coming along to see all of you! We hope you have all been good this year!
Due to our safety protocols around Glenealy Zooms if parents want to join this Zoom, please do so alongside your child.

We would also like to invite all children and parents to join us for our End of Term assemblies next week. If parents are at home with the children - please also join us for some Christmas cheer and GGT performances. Santa hats and festive jumpers are welcome. Hong Kong Young Writers’ Awards (HKYWA) 2021 - Tales from China’s Magical Mountains
This is a great creative opportunity for all students over the upcoming Winter Break.
The HKYWA is an annual competition for aspiring writers to showcase their talents and creativity in fiction, non-fiction, poetry or cover art. The competition’s main aim is to foster excellence in creativity by providing students the opportunity to develop their expressive talents and expand their horizons. The awards recognise and encourage excellence in English writing and artwork amongst students aged from 6-18.
Check out this website https://www.hkywa.com/ and if you are interested please contact Mr Angelosante cangelosante@glenealy.edu.hk or Mr Jones adam.jones@glenealy.edu.hk . They will be organising a Zoom meeting next week for everyone who would like to take part.
Wellbeing Session for Parents - Save the date
Thanks to the generosity of our fantastic PTA, we will be hosting a wellbeing Zoom session with acclaimed author of Contextual Wellbeing, Dr Helen Street. This session will provide guidance to parents and caregivers about how to support children’s wellbeing. More details about booking a place on this course will follow next week. For now, if you are interested in attending, please ‘save the date’ - Wednesday 20th January 2021 at 6pm.
I wish you all a great end to the week a happy and healthy weekend.
Kind Regards,
Chris
