PEEPs After Hours is a club to build friendships between students with disabilities and typically developing peers.
PEEPs (Peers Educating Exceptional People) was originally created to build friendships between students with disabilities and their peers. For the past two years, students participating in PEEPs have worked with students with disabilities during advisory. This program has created friendships and acceptance throughout the school building. It has become so popular and successful that we have created PEEPs After Hours Club!
In PEEPs After Hours Club, students will participate in various activities including sports, art, music, technology, and culinary arts while fostering friendships and building social skills. Club members will also have the opportunity to attend school functions together throughout the school year! The registration fee for the entire school year is $75 and it will take place Monday's from 2:30-4:00. Contact Carolyn Beil, school social worker, for questions and information: cbeil@sd113a.org, x4308.
Journalism Club
The OQMS Journalism Club will differentiate between and create news articles such as editorial pieces, feature stories and columns. Students will also learn about photojournalism, review how-to and promotional articles and Twitter posts. We will learn about and adhere to the rules of responsible journalism while representing OQMS.
Club runs from late August - end of May
All Club members will meet with the advisor in person usually two Wednesdays each month from 2:30-4:00 p.m.
All Club members will be expected to join and participate in the Journalism Club Google Classroom and Google Drive Journalism Collaborative Folder created by the advisor in between face-to face meetings (there will be assignments and deadlines to meet).
Some journalism assignments will require members to attend at-home school events for journalism purpose
