The first episode of Eastenders was broadcasted in 1985. When the first show was broadcasted on TV it became one of the highest-rated programmes to watch in the country, passing Emmerdale as the highest-rated.
Eastenders has lots of famous actors. Ian beale is played by Adam Woodyatt and is longest serving character to have appeared continuously since the first episode on 19 February 1985. Kathy Beale has been in soap since 1985 and returned to TV soap 2015.
The meanest family in Eastenders if the Mitchells, which includes Phil Mitchell and his brother Grant Mitchell, they were the top dogs in the TV soap and were first introduced in 1990.
Albert Square is where Eastenders is filmed but the real name of Albert Square is Fassett Square in Hackney. Eastenders set is where most of the drama happens, both in the Queen Vic and in the characters’ houses.
