Updates and information...
Faculty and staff,
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week although it is a lot different than usual. We are so thankful for everything that you do for our students! Despite all the obstacles you've had, you have been positive and dedicated to doing what your students need. I'm so honored to be able to work with such a great group of educators. I'm disappointed that we can't have the full week to honor you this year. We have a few things for students to do so be sure to watch our FB page and your Remind accounts for some special messages. You never know what to expect. I will be back at school this week Mon to Thurs from 8 to 2. Our staggered schedule begins on Tuesday with you reporting on your assigned day/s. Thank you for understanding that we need you to close out this year. I'm trying to be reasonable, keep us all safe, and be able to get things done in an efficient manner. Casual dress is fine just be appropriate.
Info from Parent Newsletter:
We have released the dates for our PK and Kindergarten registration. Thank you to the K teachers who have volunteered to come and help. Current PK students do not need to register for K if they will be attending South Fork again. We have set a date for the photographer to come and do K cap and gown pictures on June 10th. This is optional for this year's K classes. You will pay the photographer directly and arrange to get the pictures directly from the studio or have them mailed to your home. At this time, we are planning to have dates in May (after May 15th) for parents to pick up student materials, and to pick up yearbooks and testing shirts if they were ordered. More details will be released concerning pick ups after May 15th. Please be on the lookout for that info to be sent out.
Last week, our resource teachers began using their own Remind codes to communicate directly with parents. We are still needing many parents to sign up to get info from their child's teacher. PLEASE find the code below and sign up for the appropriate Remind if your child sees any of these teachers: Mrs. Wendi LeBlanc, Mrs. Kristy Guidry, Mrs. Lavigne, Mrs. Faust, or Mrs. Camie.
The information about student promotion to the next grade will be finalized over the last month of school. For students who were in danger of retention and received a possible retention letter before the closure, it's critical that they continue working on things from the teachers. Student final grades will be determined using grades from Quarters 1 to 3 and calculated using the total points earned. If a student is close to promoting to the next grade, we can look at their work over the break and see if they've improved enough to move on. Please know that we will contact families individually (in May) if your student's promotion to the next grade is in jeopardy.
How can you help students keep learning at home?
Go to www.southforkelem.org and then click on TEACHER WEBSITES at the top. Once on their website you will be able to see resources and information about learning activities for each week. Teachers will update this weekly. Please check back to see updated information. I will continue our weekly newsletters to share information.
