Science Distance Learning Support Document & Files
Your District Science Team is tracking information and providing support directly related to the courses you are teaching. With adopting outside content and having to make it fit our scope and sequence, there were bound to be some glitches, stumbling points, and mis-alignments. We have gone through the courses and when we've come across places that might trip you up or your students, we have worked to find solutions and post them in the support document. There you'll also find links to support pages for the modules in most courses as well as guided notes and even videos of the labs the modules ask your student to do. We are constantly updating the information so please visit the support document regularly.
You can get to the support document from the Science Secondary Learning Network Home Page or by clicking here:

Fun & Cool Science Happenings & Resources
Virtual Regeneron ISEF May 18-22!!
The Society for Science & the Public will be hosting a virtual Regeneron ISEF program May 18-22. Pasco Schools has three projects that will be showcased. Congratulations to Shruti Patel (JWMHS), Makenzi Lloyd (WRHS), & Joshua Kopp (WRHS)!
Experience Regeneron ISEF virtually! Thrilled the Society for Science & the Public and Regeneron will be able to bring the science fair community together though Virtual #RegeneronISEF! https://bit.ly/VirtualISEF2020
High School Science Fair Participants, get your Project Published!
For this year only, all senior high school students who competed in a fair affiliated with the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (RISEF) are invited to submit their research papers for review by the International Journal of High School Research (IJHSR). The IJHSR accepts papers in every category of science, technology, engineering and mathematics recognized by RISEF.
There is no cost to the students or their mentors for submitting a paper, for having it reviewed by our editorial panel, or for having it published in the IJHSR itself. Terra operates the journal only to encourage pre-collegiate researchers to take their work seriously and to continue on the path to knowledge and fulfillment.
Visit our website at ijhighschoolresearch.org for detailed information. Congratulations for successfully completing your project in the face of all the
challenges. Your determination and drive to achieve bode well for your future!

Pasco Environmental Programs Virtual Visits
With the closure of schools, the Environmental Programs Team has been busy creating virtual visits you can share with your students. Check out these virtual visits conducted by Josh McCart (your Pasco Environmental Programs Resource Teacher) at the Energy & Marine Center. Feel free to share with your students!
Want more? Here is a link to his Youtube channel with even more great virtual visits.
Florida Wildlife Federation Interactive Online Meetings
In the coming weeks, the Florida Wildlife Federation will be hosting interactive online meetings about how students can experience and preserve the public lands and wildlife of our state. We'd love to offer this free opportunity to the middle and high school students of Pasco county, especially during this time of more limited educational opportunities.
Below you'll find a link to a signup form for both students and teachers. We would really appreciate it if you could forward this email or link to science teachers in your school district, and perhaps even contacts you may have in other districts!

UF DNA Day 2020 Virtual Outreach Program
An outreach program at UF can bring young scientists into your virtual classroom to talk about DNA and science careers!
UF DNA Day celebrates everything DNA by virtually bringing UF graduate students and postdocs to Florida high schools. Our goal is to interact with students, sharing our scientific passions and research and present interactive lessons about genetics, genomics and biotechnology. This event is an opportunity for high school students to meet and interact with young scientists and builds a culture of outreach and public engagement in science.

Gradebook Tips Sheet
Included here Gradebook Pro Tips.pdf are some helpful tips to assist you in as you grade and respond to student learning.
SEL/Compassionate Schools
It’s important to maintain your relationship momentum with your students during this last stretch of learning for this school year. Consider ways that you can empower students to wrap up their learning. Could a student lead a virtual class lesson? Could a group of students create a reflection activity based on what they’ve been learning? By allowing for student voice and choice in their learning, you’re showing them that they are a valuable member of the class and that you believe in them and their abilities.
Academic Integrity
Regrettably, some students will make a poor decision to submit work that does not reflect their original thoughts and understanding of the course content. Plagiarism and cheating may take several forms, and teachers can use measures (including Unicheck, a plagiarism detection software) to identify work that has been published or submitted before. Subsequent violations will adhere to the Pasco County Schools Student Code of Conduct. Please consult your administration.
