Grant Aid Explained
If you went to orientation or have been in the program in the past, you know that grant aid is another one of the services that TRIO SSS offers to our students that qualify. This is a competitive process and only about 25-30 students (out of 240) will be awarded. We look to see if you have completed all of the expectations of the program (attending 2 workshops, 2 meetings with your advisor, doing financial literacy, and maintaining a 2.0 GPA). Then, we take that list, and ask financial aid to check to see if you are Pell Grant eligible and also if you have unmet financial need. This is something that our regulations say we MUST follow in order to distribute money. This week, you will be hearing from either your advisor or myself about whether you are eligible or not to receive funds. If you are eligible, then you have to complete an application and also do an interview in order to be awarded. If you were not awarded, then we hope you continue to work hard and try to meet expectations next year! If you have any questions, please let me know!
