LIECK IGNITED! Parent Edition
November 2022 Newsletter
INSTRUCTIONAL SCHOOL DAY: 7:45 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.
Welcome to November Lieck Families!
Parents can you believe November is upon us! In just three weeks, it will be Thanksgiving Break and shortly after, Winter Break. Time is flying!
I am so very proud of our students for all of their hard work they put forth the first grading period. Students have been working on Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies concepts as well as other areas to grow their social emotional well-being such as character development and socialization skills. The pandemic affected students in different ways and teachers along with our counseling department have incorporated lessons that range from coping skills to making friends.
Parent Conferences are underway! Parents if you have not had your parent teacher conference yet, please reach out to your classroom teacher to set up a day and time to meet. We are committed to our partnership with our parents for our students' success! Thank you for your support!
Color Run Updates: As of this morning, we have raised over $22,000 and ALMOST to our goal!! Congratulations to Team Garcia for earning the Halloween weekend challenge! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU Lieck Community!! This money will go straight back to students in the form of school wide activities, field trips and other opportunities! Thank you for your generosity and support! *Donations will be accepted through Nov. 11th. COLOR RUN will be Friday, Nov. 4th!
In less than three weeks, we will be on Thanksgiving Break. A time to spend with family and being grateful for everything we are blessed with, but also a time to rest, relax and rejuvenate!
We are grateful for YOU! Have a super week!

Student Birthdays- No Goodie Bags, Drinks or Balloons
Parents may send store-bought, prepackaged individually frosted cupcakes, cookies, or doughnuts only for their child’s classroom to recognize their child’s birthday (no cakes, cupcake cakes, ice cream, etc.). As an alternative to food, parents may send an item for each student in the class such as stickers, stationary, pencils, etc. These items should be safe, inexpensive, easy to pass out, and not promote any political, religious, or other slogans/beliefs. School personnel will have the sole discretion as to whether or not the items are appropriate to pass out. It is best to check with your child’s teacher in advance.
Balloons, goodie bags, or food items (other than those above) are strictly prohibited. When purchasing cupcakes, be aware that there are a number of students on campus that have food allergies. Check with your child’s teacher before sending cupcakes to school to ensure items sent can be taken to the classroom. Cupcakes are to be dropped off at the school office and our staff will deliver them to the classrooms near the end of the school day. The cupcakes must not be eaten in the cafeteria and will be passed out to the children at the very end of the school day in order to limit disruption to instructional time. Parents and family members are not allowed to deliver cupcakes to the classroom.
Review of protocols important to overall safety for students & staff
As this school year progresses, safety remains a priority on all of our campuses. It is important to review key components of our district’s safety protocols to ensure we never lose sight of how school staff and parents must work together during a potential threat.
Since the beginning of the school year, several NISD schools have had to respond to situations near their campus by calling for a lockdown or modified lockdown. As a result of ongoing training and drills, campus staff and students have been able to react calmly and efficiently in these situations.
As a District, we have learned valuable lessons from these experiences and want to share these best practices and expectations during a potential threat.
- We understand that communication is critical. We will work to keep parents informed of any potential threat or incident on their child’s campus utilizing our School Messenger platform. We will do this through email, call out, push notice, and/or text message. In order for parents to ensure they are receiving these messages, first ensure that your child’s school has your most current contact information on file through the school attendance office. If you have children at multiple schools, you only need to contact one to have all records updated. Second, be sure to set your notification preferences by visiting the go.schoolmessenger.com website. Finally, be sure to download the Northside App from the App Store or Google Play.
- During any potential threat or incident, our priority will be the students and staff on site. If you receive notice of any incident at your child’s campus, we ask that you refrain from calling or going to the school. In most cases, students will not be released until law enforcement has provided an all-clear. Your presence on campus could pull valuable staff resources away from addressing the safety of students and staff.
- Keeping students and staff safe is a shared responsibility. We value the reports made by students, parents, and community members to our Safeline regarding any potentially dangerous situation. We ask that you continue to make these reports so that the NISD Police Dept. and campus staff can follow up appropriately. All reports are taken seriously and can be made anonymously, 24/7, by calling 210-397-7233 (SAFE).
- Many times information on social media or other platforms may not be credible. Hoax, or false, reports can cause significant disruption to a school environment creating unnecessary panic. We encourage parents to speak with their children about the harmful effects of incorrect or misleading information. Students who engage in these hoax reports will be subject to disciplinary and/or criminal action.
**As background checks are being processed, so are FAST Passes. Please check with the front office for a status check. Thank you for your patience!

Thank you families for always making Lieck a GREAT place for our students!
While one-on-one communication is the best, in a district as large as Northside ISD it is sometimes difficult. Because we want our parents to stay informed, NISD has several ways that parents and other interested citizens can stay informed about the successes and challenges of San Antonio’s premier school district of choice, as well as find out news about their children’s schools.
