Bobcat Bulletin
August 9, 2023
The first day of school is quickly arriving! Wednesday, August 16th, we will see everyone to kick off the 2023-2024 school year. The year ahead is simply going to be amazing. Our theme for the year is to BE YOUR BINKLEY BEST, and we do that by showing that we will BE Safe, BE Responsible, & BE Respectful. But moreover, we have the best -- the best teachers, staff, students and families. So cheers to you and all you do, and we look forward for your bobcats soon.
Drop Off & Pick Up
School starts at 8:30. You may drop your child off at 8:00, no earlier, unless they attend Extended Care or attend Band, Orchestra or Choir (sign ups to come). Free breakfast in in the MPR for TK-4th. Students in the upper grade pod will be piloting Breakfast in the Classroom this year; allowing our older students more opportunities to eat while they learn.
For our TK and K families, you must walk your child in to the TK/K play yard, if they do not take the bus.
Dismissal all this week is 1:55 for all students. See schedule button below for our regular schedule. Families for TK-2 grade students must park and come in to pick up their children. Please pick up promptly. If your child attends Extended Care or takes the bus, we will get them safely there.
Please, be generous and kind during drop off and pick up, we have over 400 students, which means lots of families are doing the same thing you are, all at the same time. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR UNATTENDED - even "real quick", we need traffic to flow - DO NOT PARK IN THE RED ZONE. We also have our students with disabilities, thus handicap parking is for their use and our adults who pick up who have their own need based on their disability.
Supplies
We got you for all the basics! Send your child to school with a backpack, lunch optional (it is free for all from the state), reusable water bottle, an open heart, and a mind ready to learn. We need from you lots of positive talk around school and learning to your child, and to get them into a routine to return.
Look out for communication from your classroom teacher as to the specific specialty items they need for educational success.
FIELD TRIPS
If you are itching to spend some money on your child's classroom experience, the best way is to donate early for our field trip funds. We will be asking each family to make a flat donation for field trips for the year, and if you want a jump start on that, please send in any amount to your child's teacher and that will be put towards that classes field trip amount.
I am here for you daily to answer your questions, listen to concerns, and hear your feedback. Communicate early so we can problem solve together. I adore our bobcat family, and can't wait to see what we do this year.
BE YOUR BINKLEY BEST!
Warmly,
Harmony Harvell, Principal

BOOSTERS EVENTS
KONA ICE on campus after school - Thursday, August 17th!
MEET OUR NEW STAFF
Mrs. Jaime Lopez - TK
I have been a teacher for over twenty years, but I discovered a passion for teaching our youngest TK students three years ago. I completed my student teaching in a three room school-house in New Zealand and I possess a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education. My husband and I enjoy hiking, camping, traveling and playing soccer with our two children.
I was a Bobcat at Montana State University, so I’m very excited to be a Bobcat once again! I look forward to meeting everyone in our Binkley community.
Mrs. Kerry Freeman - K
Hi Binkley! My name is Kerry Freeman and I am so excited to be joining the Binkley community and working in K2! This will be my 7th year teaching and I look forward to working with you this school year! I have a one year old daughter, Nora Jean, and the craziest yellow lab, Junie! We love to hang out at the beach and to picnic at the park! I'm currently commuting from Bodega Bay, so you'll most likely catch me drinking coffee during the morning rush on campus!
Ms. Courtney Noel - Combination Class ParaEducator & Noon Duty Supervisor
My family goes back 4 generations in Sonoma County. I’m married to a Cal Fire captain and we have two girls, a sassy cat and we are adopting a Maltipoo puppy, named Stevie, soon.
On the weekends you can find me at swim meets, the beach or Costco.
I look forward to meeting everybody!
