Budget and Trustee Vote
The annual Budget Vote and Trustee Election will be held from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, at French Hill Elementary School.
To provide transparency and clarity on the budget, the District has been conducting a series of presentations at Board of Education meetings since February. The presentations are easily accessible on the District's website and you can also watch the meetings on our YouTube channel. If you have any questions or need further clarification on the budget, our administrative team is available to assist you.
This year, two Board of Education seats are up for election, including a vacant seat that resulted from a resignation. The highest vote-getter who is not an incumbent will be elected to the vacant seat and is eligible to join the Board immediately following the certification of the results. We encourage community members interested in running for the Board to obtain a petition for candidacy by contacting the District Clerk at ysegal@yorktown.org. Completed petitions must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 17.
To cast your ballot, you must be a registered voter and reside in the Yorktown Central School District. You can register up until five days before the vote. For more information on how to register, please visit our website.

At the March 27 Board of Education meeting, we were proud to recognize the outstanding academic achievements of nine Yorktown High School seniors. These impressive students all earned 100-plus weighted GPAs, a testament to their hard work and dedication.
Principal Joseph DeGennaro expressed his admiration for the students, noting that he cannot recall a graduating class with so many students achieving this level of academic excellence.
Beyond their academic prowess, these students have contributed greatly to the Yorktown Central School District community. They have held leadership positions in various clubs, performed in shows and concerts, played sports, and devoted countless hours to community service.
We would like to congratulate Naomi Banner, Rachel Gevanthor, William Grossman, Krishna Kumanan, Klara Kunz, Braden Reynolds, Jenna Scanlan, Daniel Sheinin (Salutatorian), and Ashley Song (Valedictorian). Daniel was also celebrated for recently being named a National Merit Scholar.
Writing and ESTEAM at Mohansic
The March 27 Board of Education meeting was truly inspiring thanks to the incredible second-grade students and staff from Mohansic. We were blown away as the students showcased the skills they learned through their recent writing and ESTEAM unit.
During their presentation, students shared the significance of letter-writing in improving conversational, social, and handwriting skills, highlighting the fact that it's still an essential skill even in this digital age. They emphasized the various types of letters, including "thank you" notes, invitations, or opinion-sharing letters.
The students talked about how they read several books, shared their opinions on their favorite characters and stories, and then voted for their top picks. This experience helped them understand how to write persuasive arguments supported by evidence.
The students were also actively involved in the PTA-sponsored Wee Deliver program, which provided them with opportunities to write and deliver letters. Earlier this year, the students applied to work at the Mohansic Post Office and were interviewed by parent volunteers.
Please join us in giving a round of applause to the exceptional staff and students at Mohansic for their outstanding work on this project!
