Please Support the EveryBody Circus Program
Since 2019, The EveryBody Circus program has helped our Montera students with physical and/or learning disabilities and Autistic students build self-confidence through skill development, increase spatial awareness, build on motor skills, learn and practice self-regulation and calming strategies, and build social skills including public speaking and duo and group collaboration.
This program has been provided from the beginning at no-cost to Montera, funded entirely by PCT’s own efforts with support from different foundations including Arts for Oakland Kids. Unfortunately, one of our grants was not renewed this year and, unless we can raise at least $3,500, we will need to conclude this program as early as February.
Please donate today: www.prescottcircus.org/support. During check out, include “Montera EveryBody Circus” in the subject line. You may also send a check made to “Prescott Circus Theatre” and send to 800 Pine St. #10, Oakland, CA 94607.
Thank you for your support,
Ms. Q.

R4R & Covid-19 Safety Update
While we are still hopeful for an in-person event in April, we are very aware of Covid-19’s changing nature and know that it will impact the event in some way. With the current rise of new variants, the committee has decided to require proof of vaccination for all participants and volunteers on Saturday, April 23, 2022, in an attempt to keep our communities and families as safe as possible. If you have already registered, we will be in touch with a separate email on next steps in January. Thank you for helping to keep R4R as safe as possible.

Oakland Lacrosse will be back on campus in January as the last push to get any students who want to play. The season starts Feb 1st, 2022, and practices for all middle school students will be Tues/Thursday at Laney College. Games will be played on the weekends, with home games being played at multiple locations (Oakland Tech/Laney). We provide students with all the gear needed to play for both girls/boys lacrosse and uniforms. We also offer healthy snack options and bottled water for all players (fresh fruit/snack Bar) at practices. We will also have a bus that can pick students up directly from their schools and take them to practice, which will be coordinated with families who are interested. All of this is completely free for families!
Thank you again for your continued support and hope to see you again soon!
Best,

Oakland High School Virtual Tour
Hello again and Happy New Year!
With just about one month to go for families to submit their high school choices, I want to let you know of a couple of updates.
Please see the updated flier attached, now with a link to our Campus Tour Video! You can share this widely with your 8th graders and their families.
We will be hosting one more virtual tour on January 25 at 5:30pm. Info is on the attached flier. Note that the enrollment office is also going to be holding information sessions on 1/25 and 1/26 about the enrollment process, and different high schools will participate each night to answer questions.
Lastly, we were planning to host an in-person tour next Friday, but due to the recent changes with Covid and Omicron, we have canceled those plans. It's just not worth the risk of transmission to have visitors on our campus. Families can check out the virtual tour video and/or participate in our live, interactive tour on 1/25.

COVID
If your student is feeling ill
Returning to school:
- Get medically cleared (doctor's note or negative PCR test, AND symptoms have improved and student is fever-free for 24 hours - OR -
- 10 days have passed since onset of symptoms and student is no longer feeling ill
If your student tests positive for Covid-19
- Plan on staying home at least 10 days
- Notify the school of the results
- Work with the Contact Tracing Team
COVID Information from the District
- OUSD is required to report every single positive case to the ACPHD.
- A response team conducts contact tracing for each positive case and notifies families of students with prolonged close contact.
- If you are not notified, then your student was not determined to have prolonged close contact with the person who tested positive, so there is not a need to get tested unless your student develops symptoms.
- Vaccinated students do not need to quarantine as long as they are asymptomatic.
- Unvaccinated students who are asymptomatic can do a modified quarantine, continuing to attend school but testing twice a week for two weeks following exposure and not participating in any extracurricular activities.
- Exposed unvaccinated students may choose to stay home for 10 days with an excused absence. If so, they should contact their teachers for assignments during that time.
