From the Principal
Swimming Sports
It was great to see so many parents at the swimming carnival yesterday. Thank you to the parent helpers who were the timekeepers and also those who volunteered to be in the relay team.
Senior Shorts
Information will be going home next week about another option we are adding to the uniform list. The board have decided that in the senior school (Year 5-8) we will be introducing a Canterbury sport short option. If they do not want to wear the Canterbury shorts then they will still be able to wear the cargo short option that we provide through uniformNZ.
School Athletics Timetable
Next Thursday we have our school athletics. I have pasted below the timetable for the day. We have a slightly different format this year. All students will be completing the running events in the morning and the field events will be in the afternoon. We would appreciate it if parents could assist the staff during the field events - this will help with the smooth running of the event.
Nga mihi,
Simon Bell

Re-thinking Athletics Staff PD
One of the new National Education Learning Priorities (NELPs) is 'Learners at the Centre' where we strive to provide inclusive learning environments. This is one way we are showing as a staff that all children can be catered for in a fun way during physical activity.
Completed Tau cards this week

Teachers Stop Work Union Meeting
There will be limited supervision available for those children that need to stay at school.

The George Begg Festival
Southland: it’s time for something completely new! The George Begg Festival (30 March – 2 April) is a retro motorsport event like never before. If you’ve noticed the flags in Invercargill’s inner-city, or you’ve spotted the George Begg Festival exhibit at Invercargill Central, and you’re wondering what it’s all about, keep reading. Combining the best in classic racing with fun for the whole whānau, there’s set to be something for everyone. See motorsport legends like Greg Murphy, Paul Radisich, and Jim Murdoch take to the track; dress up and enjoy the atmosphere of the Kids Zone, retail precinct, and food and beverage vendors; check out live entertainment including festival headliners The Beat Girls and the Trends On The Track best-dressed competition; give little ones a go on the track with the pedal car race; or get amongst the fun of the Begg’s Barmy Rally (a scavenger hunt throughout Southland in support of charity Cure Kids) and Studio GB (retro disco at Bill Richardson Transport World). Visit www.georgebeggfestival.nz for more information and to buy tickets.
