Pirates Post

Week of August 29th

Message from Principal Drew...

We are excited to welcome our students back to school tomorrow for the start of a promising new year. We hope that each of you are excited about the opportunities a new year brings and are ready to work toward making those opportunities into individual and school wide successes.

As we begin tomorrow please be reminded that we start our instructional day at 8:05 AM and end each day at 3:05 PM. Early bird drop off is available for students at 7:15 AM each morning at the main office entrance to the building. Doors will open for all students at 7:30 AM each morning.

On Monday and Tuesday of this week students should report to their homeroom classes to begin the day. Students will get updates on school policies and protocols during this time to make sure we are all on the same page as the school year begins. On Wednesday of this week we will resume our regular schedule and report to 1st Period at 8:05 AM.

There are a few updates we want to share with each of you as we start the new year:

All cell phones and other personal electronics will need to be stored for the entirety of class each period of the day. Students can do this in their book bag or turn their phone into their teacher each period but all phones will be stored throughout each class. Ear buds/headphones may not be used from 8:05 AM to 3:05 PM during the school day. This includes transitions in between classes. The only exception to this is during lunch in the cafeteria. The full cell phone policy can be found on our school website in the student handbook as well as in an email sent to each student that contains a link to the handbook.

Students should also be aware of the PCHS dress code as the year begins. Highlights to the dress code include: All bottoms must be no less than mid-thigh length. Pajama pants are not allowed to be worn at school. All head gear should not be worn in the building and undergarments should be covered at all times. The full dress code can be found on our school website in the student handbook as well as in an email sent to each student that contains a link to the handbook.

Chromebook distribution will take place tomorrow for all students that have completed their online forms and submitted their insurance payment of $20. This process is still open and must be completed in order for your student to receive their Chromebook. If you need to complete this process, Mrs. Heath will be available from 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM and again from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM tomorrow in our media center to assist you.

Lunch this year will not be free to student unless the application for free/reduced lunch has been submitted and approved. If you need to do this you can find the form on the Perquimans County Schools website under the School. Nutrition tab.

We have several upcoming events you may want to be aware of:

8/30 - Volleyball will travel to Neuse Charter for JV and Varsity games beginning at 4:30 PM.

8/31 - Soccer will host Camden at 5 PM at the parks and recreation field.

9/1 - Varsity Volleyball will travel to South Creek for a 5:00 PM game and JV Football will travel to Pasquotank for a 7:00 PM game.

9/2 - Varsity Football will host Pasquotank at 7:00 PM.

9/22 - Picture Day for all students

Once again we are excited to see everyone in the morning. Together we can make this school year the best one yet.
