Charles Darwin
Charles Robert Darwin, FRS was an English naturalist and geologist, best known for his contributions to evolutionary theory.
Evolution?
Gradual change in a species through adaptation over time.
Natural Selection
Organisims with a favorable variation survive and reproduce, passing on there favorable variation onto their offspring.
Homologous vs. Analogous
Homologous structures: have the same structure but different functions- the wind of a bat and the arm of a human are homologues.Analogous: structures have the same function, but different structures- the wing of a bird and the wing of an insect are analogues

Survival of the fittest
Natural selection conceived of as a struggle for life in which only those organisms best adapted to existing conditions are able to survive and reproduce.
genetic diversity/variation (convergent & divergent evolution)
A species with a broad distribution rarely has the same genetic makeup over its entire range. Thats because this species is sensitive to temperature.
adaptation
The action or process of adapting or being adapted. Like a spider when it tries to hide in its web from birds.
Geographic isolation & reprodutive isolation
Geographic isolation: represents a prezygotic barrier to reproduction, though one that, uniquely, can lack a genetic component.Reproductive isolation: the conditions, as physiological or behavioral differences or geographical barriers, that prevent potentially interbreeding populations from cross-fertilization.
