October 2017 Newsletter
College Hills Elementary & PTO
Dear College Hills Parents & Guardians,
I hope this letter finds everyone well as we are moving quickly past the first 6 weeks of school. The students have done a great job getting to know the routines, expectations and diving into the academic learning for the year. We have just finished our fall book fair which set a new record of sales for College Hills. We appreciate our PTO for all the hard work setting up, manning and tearing down the book fair. The funds raised from the book fair will allow Mrs. Smith to order over $3000 of new books for our students to read. That is amazing! At College Hills two of the rich traditions we enjoy each year are coming up: Book Character Parade and Paws to the Pavement, so make sure to save the dates and join us for the events.
We have a couple of safety reminders for families. Around College Hills there are many posted city signs that must be followed. The police department has been ticketing drivers who break these rules.
- There is no left hand turn into the parking lot before and after school.
- There is no parking, stopping or standing at Gilchrist and Williams.
- No parking in handicap parking without the correct permit.
- Always use the crosswalks to cross our vehicle traffic at the front of the building.
Let's have a great year learning together!
Have a Tigerific Day!

Red Ribbon Week Dress Up Days
What is Red Ribbon Week? The Red Ribbon Campaign is the largest and oldest drug prevention program in the United States. Red Ribbon Week is a way for communities to unite and take a visible stand against drugs.
Why did Red Ribbon Week start? Red Ribbon Week has been celebrated annually since 1986 when Drug Enforcement Agent, KiKi Camarena, was killed after nearly breaking up a drug cartel. To honor his memory and commitment to drug and alcohol prevention, his family and friends started wearing red ribbons.

With remind & Facebook, parents can receive helpful reminders and interesting news where it is most convenient.
We share even more info for parents through Facebook for the school here and for the PTO here. It is encouraged that parents toggle on "Get Notifications" on the top of our pages. Otherwise, many posts will not be included in your news feed without being boosted with an ad buy. We'd rather spend our money on the kids:)
