Latino Family Outreach

Ms. Celene Burt and Mr. Chad Smith will be your contacts for our Latino families who have students at Centennial and there is a language barrier between home and school. We are asking you to fill out our request form so that we can have student names since we might not have your student on our rosters. Once any teacher makes an outreach request, Celene and I will send out an email to all teachers who have that student, and each teacher should give us an update via email on how this student is performing in class. We will update parents as often as needed with current grades, behavior, and/or attendance. Once a student is referred by using this Google Form, there is no need to do a repeat referral as that student will be on our list. Please keep in mind that not all Latino families have language barriers and only use us when you are certain that communication in Spanish is truly needed.

Once contact has been made with parents or guardians, we will be sending back an email that summarizes our communication and what follow ups that the parents or guardians have requested. We will upload this communication into the student’s PLP file for you.

We look forward to building stronger relationships with our Latino families and if you have any suggestions to improve our process, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you for your support,

Chad Smith

Rent Assistance?

Need Help with Your Rent?
Do you need help with rent and not sure where to turn? Rentful614.com can help.

Rentful614.com is a simple, easy-to-navigate website that provides renters and landlords key resources to stay in their homes. Our partners at the City of Columbus, Franklin County Board of Commissioners, the United Way of Central Ohio, the Siemer Institute, and the Affordable Housing Alliance of Central Ohio launched this effort to help families stay in their homes by reducing evictions. Studies have shown that on average, 1-in-3 Ohio renters have little or no confidence in their ability to pay next month’s rent. To date during the pandemic, emergency rent assistance has helped more than 15,000 families receive rental assistance.

Rentful614.com is the key to connecting you with resources to prevent eviction. Rentful614.com offers you with valuable resources on where to go to apply for rental assistance, get legal assistance, and be connected to helpful information. For more information visit rentful614.com.

Tutoring Information by Centennial Students

Centennial HS students are offering tutoring. These students held a student book club this past summer and it was great.

It's a Blessing to Be a Blessing

Hello Centennial Family.

767 million people around the world live on less than $2 per day. For those living in extreme poverty, many don’t have access to a sustainable income or basic necessities.

Did you know that the shoes you no longer want could create jobs for people in developing countries? Your shoes can help people in developing nations start and sustain their own small businesses!

We’re excited to announce that we have joined forces with the nonprofit Soles4Souls and are launching our own shoe drive to collect 250 pairs of shoes to help break the cycle of poverty.

For the month of November, please bring your new or used shoes of any kind to the donation boxes in the Office.

Since 2006, Soles4Souls has distributed more than 50 million pairs of shoes in 129 countries and are a four-star charity as rated by Charity Navigator. Soles4Souls utilizes new and gently used shoes as a resource to help entrepreneurs in developing nations with an opportunity to start and sustain small businesses (a micro-enterprise) of their own. Learn more at https://soles4souls.org/.

Soles4Souls | Turning shoes and clothing into opportunity.

At Soles4Souls, we turn unwanted shoes and clothing into opportunity, by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use - providing relief, creating jobs and empowering people to break the cycle of poverty.

Give your shoes a second life and donate to our shoe drive today!

The safety and well-being of our entire CCS family is one of our highest priorities, and to remain proactive in addressing potential concerns, the District is introducing enhanced security measures for all upcoming middle and high school athletic events.

Effective immediately, the following new screening measure will be implemented for students, families, and guests attending CCS sporting events:

  • All CCS athletic events through the end of December will be limited to family members of participating students (i.e. players, members of the band, and cheer teams) and enrolled students from the participating schools.

  • All guests are subject to screening by CCS Safety & Security members and staff, including the use of handheld metal detector wands.
  • We reserve the right to inspect all items entering our facilities.

  • Bags or purses are not permitted. Wallets and wristlets no larger than 5 in. x 8 in. will be allowed. All items entering venues will be subject to inspection.
  • CCS has a zero-tolerance policy for weapons, alcohol, and tobacco products, and these items are not permitted on campus.

  • Once a guest exits the event, re-entry will not be allowed without the purchase of a new ticket and rescreening by security staff.

In the event of rising safety concerns, limited spectator tickets may continue to ensure the safety of students, families, and guests attending all CCS athletic events.

New Changes to Purchasing Tickets for Student Activities and Sporting Events
District Moves to Cashless Ticketing System

November 18, 2021 - The Columbus City Schools Office of Student Activities is excited to announce a new online ticket purchasing process that is convenient and easy to use. Starting with this winter sports season, the District will move to a cashless ticketing system.

Spectators wishing to attend a CCS high school ticketed sporting event will be required to purchase tickets online in advance of the contest.

Using a mobile phone, computer, or laptop device, individuals wishing to attend an event can access the Local Level platform, type the school name in the search box, and get a populated list of sporting events for which tickets can be purchased. Once purchased, tickets can be printed or scanned at the door right from your mobile phone.

This will allow for a contact-free, COVID-friendly entrance process. In addition, all guests will be required to wear a mask at all CCS athletic events and adhere to all health protocols issued by the District.
