Back To School Night, Tuesday, 9/12
6:20- Transition to Classrooms
6:30-7pm Session #1
7-7:30pm- Allow parents to visit a second child's classroom
Keys to a successful Back to School Night
1. Sign-ins- This allows you to collect parent info (emails, etc.). Also if a parent does not attend, you can send home the info. with parents.
2. One pager- A one pager that parents can bring home to their other parent or to review. Info could include: how you will communicate with parents, classroom website, the standards covered, any materials students need, field trips, contact information, SEL Info., and a few other things.
4. PowerPoint/Keynote/Google presentation? You can simply talk at parents, but this will go smoother and faster if you have something visual for yourself and them to follow rather than babbling for 30 min.
5. The classroom environment: Make sure sure that you set up an environment that can engage students and make them think about what’s to come. For some parents this may be the only time that they see theri child's classroom. They should be able to picture their kids learning in the room. The environment is the second teacher in the room and it sends a message for how you feel about someone's child (pride? care? organized? prepared? thoughtful?)
HEARTS (School Climate & Community)
Coach C.'s Corner- Call or Text, Don't Send Kids
RJ/SEL: Call main office and/or text
Students are showing up at my office during classroom hours. No students should stop by my office during class time unless I have arranged it. Please let students know that if they want to see me, they should fill out a reflection form outside my office. If this is an urgent and/or immediate need, please call the office and the office will contact me as needed. If I am unavailable, than someone else from the office can help. Also, teachers are also welcome to text me (617-959-1482) if there is a need for help. If you don't hear from me in a reasonable amount of time, please call the office.
Thanks!

Junior Coaches
A big shout out to Coach Jose for his work in identifying, training, and supporting our young leaders! He has almost doubled the number of coaches this year and included third graders who will be helping with TK/K recesses. In addition, last year we didn't get our coaches going until much later in the Fall, and this year we starting up in September!
Universal Referral Forms
If you are sending students to the office, you must complete a Universal Referral Form.
These can be found in the main office across from the teacher's boxes as well as in the Staff online handbook.
BODIES (Operations & Logistics)
Safety Reminder: Supervision
Students are never to be left in the classroom or hallways unsupervised. If you have an emergency and need to leave the room, please contact the office to send coverage.
If you are working with students during recess or lunch and need to step out of the room, students will need to leave the room with you.
Glenview Giving Campaign Starts this Week!
- Class competition. The class with the highest % participation wins a free ticket to the Haunted House. The teacher will also win a special prize!
- PTA will provide teachers with donation envelopes this week.
- Donation collection from classrooms - please collect envelopes from your students in the morning and PTA will have volunteers coming by to pick them up.
- Feel free to provide additional fun incentives for your kids.
- Every child counts, Every dollar counts!
- If you want to make a mini-promotional video, send it to Chelsea or Mr. Miller. Or have Mr. Miller come and make your video.
IMPORTANT TO DO- REVIEW Picture Day SCHEDULE
Important TO DO-
Please review this schedule for photo days. If you have a conflict, please find a colleague and switch with them, then email Chelsea by noon on Tuesday, 9/11 with the switch.
We need to notify parents ASAP about which day is their child's photo day, so if your date doesn't work, please resolve that issue on Monday and get Chelsea know.
