The long-awaited holiday time can be a fun time to explore different STEM opportunities at home and across our MiSTEM region.

Things to do around our MiSTEM region

Check out the Experience Center at SC4

Saint Clair County Community College and the Ann Arbor Children's Museum have partnered for some great exhibitions at SC4's Experience Center. They have the fossils (including T-Rex and Mastodon skull replicas!) and interactive exhibits about various STEM and arts topics.

Visit the Longway Planetarium in Flint

A "Cosmic Christmas" show will help you get in the holiday mood with sixteen holiday songs! It is playing now through January 4th at 4:00 PM every afternoon and 7 PM on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays.

The "Perfect Little Planet" is showing at 12 PM every afternoon during winter break (except Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Years Day) and take you on a family vacation through our solar system.

Explore a nature center

This winter break you could bundle up and head outside to explore the outdoors! It may be chilly but there are plenty of observations to be made about the woodland critters that have stuck around, trees, birds, and

In Lapeer County you can participate in a variety of different programs at Seven Ponds Nature Center which is hosting various events throughout winter break. In St. Clair County, head to Pine River Nature Center for over three miles of hiking trails. In Genesee County you can explore Ligon Outdoor Center which has a beautiful (if currently chilly!) 4.5 acre spring-fed glacial lake.

FIRST Robotics Kickoff!

On January 4th Capac High School is hosting a FIRST Robotics competition reveal. You can check with your local teams to see if they are hosting a kick off event or follow along with the Live Stream link here. Good luck, FIRST teams!
