Highly Qualified Staff
Clara Barton Hawthorne Elementary School is required to track teacher qualification and the highly qualified status of our staff. This is updated each year. Information specific to each staff member is kept at the District Office to maintain this record.
Parents wishing to view teacher qualifications are welcome to visit the District Office to view the qualification of their child’s teacher.
Homework Room
Clara Barton offers “homework room” for third, fourth, and fifth graders. The purpose of homework room is to provide a quiet place with few distractions for students to work on homework assignments. It is not intended for tutoring or as other childcare arrangements.
Allison Larson, a fifth-grade teacher, will staff the room. Homework room will be held in room 202 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 2:35-3:30. Students will be expected to bring their homework assignments and any necessary materials, such as pencils, paper, etc. They will be allowed to work in homework room until 3:30, but students can be dismissed earlier if their work is complete.
Students may request the opportunity to work in the homework room, teachers may recommend that they attend, or you, as a parent, may request their participation.
Because the homework room is scheduled for after school, you will need to make arrangements for your child to go home at 3:30 or whenever he or she has completed homework. There is no after-school playground supervision provided, and we will expect all students to leave the school promptly after their work is complete.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office or Mrs. Larson at 446-4400.
