Career Research

Seniors in Mrs. Christian's College and Career Readiness classes researched careers through the Occupational Outlook Handbook. Students were asked to identify three occupations that they felt they might be interested in pursuing after graduation.

Through this exercise, students learned about:

  • What someone does in that occupation.
  • What the work environment is like.
  • How to become someone in that occupation (i.e. high school diploma, Bachelor's degree, etc)
  • What the pay and job outlook are for the occupation.
  • Identify 3 similar occupations.

Visit the Library

Encourage your students to go by the MHS Library to check out the neat activities that Mrs. Giberson has set up. She is also interested in knowing what books the students would like to see on the shelves.

The Harmful Effects of E-Cigarettes/Vaping

The use of e-cigarettes, or vaping, has increased dramatically in teens in recent years. In fact, according to the CDC’s National Youth Tobacco Survey, 1 in 5 high school students reported the use of vapes. The health effects for teens include coughing and wheezing, behavioral and mood changes, headaches, seizures, vomiting and potential severe lung injury. Vaping also negatively affects teens’ attention, learning, mood and impulse control in a way that can affect them in school, sports and social situations. Get ahead of the game and talk to your kids about vaping and the dangers associated with it.
