OVS high school parents,
We wanted to provide a follow-up with you regarding the recent district communication that was sent to families and how it applies to OVS. We are a program within Omaha Public Schools and therefore, have to follow the OPS district practices and procedures during this time.
Below are some program-specific details in the hopes of anticipating some of your program specific questions.
- While we will no longer have face to face class sessions, learners are encouraged to continue through their K12 curriculum for the rest of the school year.
- OVS staff will continue to communicate regularly with learners and learning coaches for the remainder of the semester.
- Any work on pacing guides for the 3rd quarter (January 7th- March 5) can be completed or resubmitted for full credit and will be the 2nd semester grade. Deadline for student work is May 1st at 11:59PM.
- Coursework on the pacing guide from March 16-end of school year (4th quarter), will be moved into a practice category in the gradebook and will not impact student's 3rd quarter grade.
- Computer-graded assessments (typically quizzes and part 1 unit tests) will still be "graded" in the system but will not contribute to a grade.
- Teachers will continue to provide feedback to learners regarding their performance in the feedback box in the gradebook or via email
- Learners will have opportunities to engage with all teachers live, online for support. Teacher schedules will be shared in course announcements and/or email to learners and learning coaches.
We realize that work completed this quarter will not be on a 4th quarter report card, but we want to emphasize to you the importance of keeping your learners engaged in learning, so they are prepared for the next grade-level and ACT exams. You have a wealth of resources from K12 and support from our teachers. Our program is blessed to already have systems in place to support this scenario!
Please let us know how we can support you in these upcoming weeks.
I am always here to support by email or any other means necessary.
Thank you so much for all you do Learning Coaches to help your learner. I am here at anytime by email if you need me. I am proud to be your teacher.
