Inherited traits VS Acquired traits
By Dylan Ward
What's the Difference?
Inherited traits are traits that you inherited from your parents. Acquired traits are traits that you learned. So, what do they mean by learned? You can be born athletic but you have to learn the rules and requirements to be good at a sport. Inherited traits are traits that are passed through genes from your parents.
Inherited Traits
Eye color
I have blue eyes just like my parents.
Height
I am pretty tall. I get that from my grandpa.
Weight
I am pretty skinny. I get that from my dad.
Acquired Traits
Basketball
I had to work hard to get good at basketball even though I was already athletic.
Soccer
I have played soccer for as long as I can remember but I still have to practice and learn the rules to stay proficient.
Swimming
I definitely wasn't born able to swim. I had to work in swimming lesson when I was younger to learn how to swim.
In Closing
We would not be the people we are today without Inherited AND Acquired traits.
