Lincoln Elementary Weekly Update

April 9, 2021

Note from Mrs. K

Good afternoon, Lincoln families!

We have some exciting news to share about our current lunch procedures. Starting Monday (April 12th), we will be allowing all students in one grade level to eat in the lunchroom together. Since the beginning of the school year, each grade level would have one class that would eat in their rooms each day, in order to make more room for social distancing during a mask-free time. This was a precaution we took at both Lincoln and Madison. After meeting with our nurses, we have decided to try going back to a more normal lunch setting.

Students will still be spaced apart by at least one seat (just shy of 2 feet), and will have assigned lunch seats should contract tracing be necessary. We also have folding tables out (which we have been using all year) that will help us spread students out while allowing us to get all three grade level classrooms in the cafeteria at once.

If you would prefer your child to maintain a 6 foot distance from other students during lunch, please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher or the office as soon as possible. We will have a few tables that we can utilize to increase the distance between students if requested by a parent or guardian.

On a related note, we are noticing an increased amount of students coming without masks to school each day. On average, we hand out over 15 masks every morning - most of them to students who forget one at home. We need to be able to maintain enough masks to cover the students whose masks break, or have other reasons that require a mask replacement, throughout the day. Masks will continue to be required through the remainder of the school year, and we ask that you help your child remember their mask each morning before leaving home.

Seven more weeks, everyone! Thank you for all you have done to help keep all of us safe, healthy, and in school together this school year!

In partnership,
