What's Happening Week of September 10, 2018
We are gearing up for our first FULL week of school. Hopefully the weather will be a little cooler and our friends will get to enjoy more time outside this upcoming week.
It's always busy here at school. This week our students welcomed their preschool and kindergarten friends. They are learning the names of their new friends. Working hard review concepts to prepare their brains to work hard learning lots of new information.
PTO Out of Dress Day Wednesday Sept 12
The 2nd Wednesday of each month students (K-8) are able to come to school out of uniform- They bring in $3 per student with a $5 family cap or you can pay for the whole school year next week $30 for one student or $50 for the whole family.
These funds are used to provide the various PTO programs during the school year.
You can find the Out of Dress guidelines in the handbook

Design Squad
Design Squad is open to students in Grades 3-8 and is a chance for students to be introduced to the concepts of engineering and chemistry. Past engineering challenges include building a circuit, designing a kicking machine and building a wiggle bot. We are in the planning phase for our fall event to be held on November 17th, from 12pm to 4pm in the school gym. This program is successful thanks to all of our volunteers which include parents, grandparents and parents of St. Anna alumni. Students are placed in teams of 4-5 and we like to have one volunteer for each group to help guide the students as they brainstorm and work together to accomplish the task.
If you are interested in volunteering, have ideas for projects or for more information about the program, please contact Mrs. Laura Pompei.
Student sign-up sheets will be coming soon!

Cool Kids Cash Club
This program will allow students to being banking at school. They will learn the importance of saving and will be able to make deposits into their savings account twice a month. This is an easy and terrific way to start saving NOW for middle school field trips! Each year the 6th graders attend Nature’s Classroom at a cost of around $600. The Washington DC trip is held every other year so your child would have the opportunity to attend DC as either a 7th or 8th grader. This trip costs around $1000. If you being saving NOW, as early as preschool or Kindergarten, your child could easily save enough money to cover both of these trips by the time they become a middle school student!
Students will also learn skills about keeping a savings account pass book and other financial skills that are necessary to become financially responsible adults.
Parents who are interested in having their child participate in this program, will need to open their child’s account at Fidelity and then on-going deposits can be made conveniently at school.
Please feel free to stop in at either Fidelity branch in Leominster to open your account. Please let them know it is for St. Anna’s Cool Cash Club and/or email and let me know you’ve opened an account for your child so I can let you know when banking at school will begin.
If you have questions about the program, please contact Ruby Vargas from Fidelity Bank at rvargas@fidelitybankonline.com or 978-353-2701

The teacher will help them if needed. Students will have access to their chromebooks. Students can get picked up at 4:30 or go to extended care. Our intention is to give students a quiet space to do their homework after school. This will be beneficial to those that usually go to extended care and want to finish their homework before playing and for those that might need a little more support and structure to complete their homework. Students need to let their teacher know during attendance if they are staying after for homework club or let Mrs. Priddy know at lunch time. We need to make sure everyone has a ride home. Students who are signed up to go to Homework Club need to STAY at homework club until their ride arrives unless they are also signed up to go to Extended Care following Homework Club.
