Pratt's Primary Corner
Weekly Update- October 12, 2018
Week at a Glance
Reading- During guided reading groups we've been focusing on fiction writing and looking at how characters change from the beginning to the end of the story. I'm trying to expose students to more fiction reading, as I've noticed students are more drawn to nonfiction and are having trouble finding fiction books they enjoy.
Math- We're continuing on with unit 2. We took our first checkpoint assessment which will come home next week. We've really been focusing on using arrays and relating multiplication to addition.
Writing-We started our opinion unit this week and I can tell it's going to be so much fun! Students got to start by giving awards to some of their favorite items and identifying reasons why those items got those awards.
Social Studies- This week we've been learning about maps and landforms. Today we started creating our own treasure maps that will contain different elements of a map, including landforms.
