Books Needed!

We are collecting books for the QUEST reading program that the Community Storehouse puts on every year. It is a program where kids, struggling with reading, come to Westlake Academy to develop their reading skills more fully with professional instructors as well as volunteers. Each day, the kids will get to take home one book of their choice, so the Community Storehouse Junior Board created this book drive to gather a wide variety of books to help spark an interest in kids struggling with reading.

A member of the junior board will collect the boxes on May 27 after school. They will also come to the school every couple weeks to empty the boxes to ensure that they do not overflow. The boxes are located just inside the entrance in the lobby.

Special Olympics Torch Run - May 25

The Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics is the movement's largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle, At its most basic level the Torch Run is an actual running event, in which officers and athletes run the Flame of Hope™ to the Opening Ceremonies of local Special Olympics competitions. The Keller Police Department is participating in this event on May 25th. The course starts at Keller Middle School, it will pass by Keller Harvel and then end at Keller High School.

All of our students and staff have been invited to cheer on the runner and all of our athletes at/around 9:15 on May 25th. So if you see the entire school outside in the grass along Johnson Road, that's just the largest group of elementary cheer leaders in the district!

Here is the course for the Torch Run w/ the policemen on 5/25. The approximate start time will be 9:15 from KMS. They will run from Hovenkamp, to Jessie, to Johnson Road and then end at Keller High School. Students and staff will make their way out around 9:00 am. We will be on the grass near the intersection of Norma and Johnson Road. Thanks so much for supporting the Special Olympics.

You do not have to do anything if you are currently signed up to receive these text messages. Once the account is closed, your information will automatically be deleted from the system. If a new account is made in the future, you will need to sign up again.
