Reframing Family Engagement
- How do we get more outreach?
- What are we missing? How do we fill the gaps?
Many times, the real issue is that we need to reframe the discussion and our perspectives of family engagement. Often our definition of family engagement, and the methods we use to build family engagement, can benefit from a new perspective of our own vision and understanding. With clear purposes, our end goals may re-align and lead to a new outreach and mindset. Below are resources that may be helpful for you and your school and colleagues as you have a 'reframed' conversation. Please contact any member of the PaTTAN Family Engagement team to brainstorm, discuss options, or organize a reframing conversation with you.
"Why use this Framework?
Based on existing research and best practices, the Dual Capacity-Building Framework for Family-School Partnerships (Version 2) is designed to support the development of family engagement strategies, policies, and programs. It is not a blueprint for engagement initiatives, which must be designed to fit the particular contexts in which they are carried out. Instead, the Framework should be seen as a compass, laying out the goals and conditions necessary to chart a path toward effective family engagement efforts that are linked to student achievement and school improvement."
