Things are great in room 308!
Field Trip information
We will be taking our field trip to Pickin Patch Farm in Marionville on Friday, Oct 9. We'd love to have you join us! We will depart school at 9:00, arrive and unload at 9:30, and be back at school around noon. While there we will take a hayride, pick out a pumpkins, and eat lunch. This is such a great trip! A note with more information will be sent home Monday afternoon, so be looking for it!
Pumpkin and gourd donations
In preparation for the field trip, we will be doing an inquiry unit on gourds and pumpkins. One of the best parts of this is cutting open pumpkins and different gourds and seeing what's inside! Its also pretty interesting to get to handle several different kinds of pumpkins, especially ones that have interesting shapes and colors. If anyone is interested in donating a pumpkin or gourd for research purposes, I know the kids would be thrilled. We need 4 jack-o-lantern sized pumpkins for sure. Please let me know if this would be something you're interested in helping with. Thanks in advance!

Scenes From Our Week.......
Leah, Autumn, and Brentley are making a poster of letters with only sticks and curves. This adds a little extra challenge to letter sorting, since the students have to visually discriminate from the letters on the chart instead of manipulating magnet letters one at a time.
Ahhhh, the glitter box! A fun (and sparkly!) way to practice handwriting skills. Logan is working on a lowercase "h".
I love to have the students lead whenever I can! Its so engaging for the class to have a peer lead them. Parker was leading a letter-sound activity.
Aubrie is doing some great work at literacy stations sorting and recording her results.
We explored and used science tools this week! Using our sense of sight and also magnifying glasses helped us observe the world around us. Molly and Maci were checking out what was inside Brentley's mouth!
This pouring station is very popular at center time. Using two hands is a very important skill. Think of all the things you do that you need two hands for! In a school setting its important for writing (one hand writes, the other holds the paper). Letting your child spread peanut butter on bread or frosting on graham crackers is a great way to work on this at home.
