JBE Weekly Update
Keeping you informed throughout the summer
JBE is hard at work to make sure procedures are in place to ensure school is a safe place for students and staff. We are in the middle of what seems to be an ever changing situation. We want to keep you informed and updated as much as possible. Please know that we are listening to the Arkansas Department of Health and Arkansas Department of Education and Secondary Education and will follow the madates they are recomending.
Questions we are receiving at this time:
- Due to Covid-19, JBE open houses will be virtual this year. These will be available online on August 17. We will post them on the Star City website, social media, and our newsletter.
- We are working on classlists at this time. These will be posted as soon as they are ready.
- Families wanting to participate in virtual learning, for the first semester, need to fill out necessary paperwork ASAP. (You can pick this up at the JBE office 8am-3pm)
We will be offering two types of learning this year- on-site learning and virtual learning.
On-Site Learning (Traditional Education) For on-site learning, all state requirements regarding safety and sanitation will be followed. All students over age 10 will be required to wear a mask while riding a bus. During the school day, all students over age ten will be strongly encouraged to wear a mask when social distancing isn’t possible. SCSD will provide two washable masks per student. Students and teachers will utilize digital learning tools in the classroom to prepare for possible distance learning as determined by the Arkansas Department of Health.
Virtual Learning (Online Learning) Virtual Learning will require Internet access. Instruction will consist of direct instruction provided the district or other state-provided virtual solutions managed by SCSD staff. Students will be required to fully participate in educational activities. Grades will be given regularly and assignments will be evaluated to the same level as if students were enrolled in on site education. If this option is selected, the student must remain a virtual student through the end of a semester. Virtual learners will be allowed to participate in all extracurricular activities.
