We had a fun Wacky Tacky Day last week!
Thanks for showing your school Spirit Top Chefs :).
Math - Top Chefs finished up our unit on shapes. We had a great time making predictions for Groundhog Day, and creating a chart with our information we gathered. We are going to begin coins next week, so gather up that loose change and have your Top Chefs explore what they notice about a penny, nickle, dime, and quarter.
Literacy -Reading groups are meeting again! Top Chefs are reading books independently, with a partner, and pop-corn reading as a whole group. Sight words have been sent home again this week. Please keep these sheets in your child's homework folder and review NIGHTLY :). We also enjoyed reading all about Phil, the groundhog who did not see his shadow...Early Spring??
Writing - Top Chefs wrote all about things they enjoy doing in the month of February. We read a poem book about the new month that just began and brainstormed a classroom list of topics we could write about. Students also created beautiful illustrations to go along with their writing. We also took Shadow Pictures in front of our over head projector.
Content - We are excited to begin out unit on Solids, Liquids, and Gases. Students watched a Brain Pop Jr. video and sorted pictures into the correct categories. Top Chefs also created magazine murals showing all kinds of things that are solids, liquids, and gases. Students also enjoyed celebrating Groundhog Day with our 5th grade Book Buddies. We sorted pictures in sequential order, and put words relating to this day in ABC order.
