Our theme is "African American Women Who Have Made A Difference"

Please see the calendar below for information on special activities. In addition, students in 4th thru 8th grade are participating in the North Miami Library Essay contest and students in other grades are doing special activities in class.

Students may wear any BLACK HISTORY MONTH T-SHIRT this Friday with long blue jeans.

If they do not choose to wear a black history month tshirt, they should wear REGULAR UNIFORMS.

PK2, PK3, K4 and K5 sing in church this Sunday

Please meet the teachers in Room 5 (PK) and Room 3 (K4 and K5) at 10:15AM. Church begins at 10:30AM. Please drop children off and go to the church and find a seat. Please do not drop students off. You must come with them. Thank you for bring your children to participate in worship.

Spelling Bee

This week we held our 1st through 3rd grade and our 4th and 5th grade spelling bees.

We are very proud of all of the class winners who participated!

1st grade: Ian, Carlee, Rian, Sebastian

2nd grade: Cameron, Woodlee, Jomar, Clinton

3rd grade: Jai'yana, Sean, Joshua, Jeremiah, Lucas

4th grade: Andre, Kimberly, Axel, Sarah

5th grade: Tsenant, Ishmael, Ricardo, Lisa

(Sarah will represent Holy Cross at the Miami Herald Spelling Bee)

The MIDDLE SCHOOL SPELLING BEE will be held on Monday, February 5th beginning at 9:30AM.

PTL Valentines Lolligrams for Sale

The PTL will begin selling Valentine's lolligrams. Students (and parents) may purchase a lolligram (lollipop with message) for a classmate, friend or teacher. The form has been sent home and is also attached here. The deadline to purchase these is February 9th. Please return to the office with the appropriate payment ($1 each)

Plumbing issues

The plumbing issues have been temporarily resolved. We will have to replace the entire line but hopefully we will be able to hold off until the last day of school. Thank you to our parents, students and staff for their understanding.

Sunday, March 4 - Kick-off for National Lutheran Schools Week

Kick-off Sunday for NATIONAL LUTHERAN SCHOOLS WEEK is Sunday, March 4th. We will have a huge, celebratory church service and all of our students will be participating in worship and are encouraged to come and sing. Please mark your calendars now.

MAP testing and Khan Academy MAPPERS

Some classes are finished, some classes still have tests to finish. All test will be finished by February 9th.

All students in 2nd through 8th grade will be expected to logon to Khan Academy/Mappers for a minimum number of minutes per week to help with very specific math concepts. The problems that they receive on their profile are based on their winter MAP scores in each of the four areas of math. They can logon to a computer, IPAD, tablet, chromebook or even a smart phone (although that might be a little hard). Information will be coming home to you on a blue paper.

Looking ahead to REGISTRATION

Please mark your calendars now for re-registration which will begin on Tuesday, February 20th. PLEASE NOTE THAT EVERY CHILD MUST BE RE-REGISTERED EVERY YEAR. You will need to register online via Renweb,sign the tuition plan and pay the registration fee to be fully registered. If your child has the SUFS or AAA scholarship, please be sure that you have completed your renewal and turn the letter in to the business office. Please make a copy for your own records.

5th grade parents... please be aware that there will be ONLY ONE 6th grade class and space will be limited.
