I.T.S. a Tech Update for Students
September 01, 2020
Welcome and Bienvenidos π
We hope you are having a good start to the school year. We at the Active Learning Department know that it is not the best situation, but we also know that things will get better. In the meantime, many of you received new iPads, and new laptops that you are going to need to learn how to use for your learning. We are sharing some good resources below to help you with this.
We hope this helps. Keep up the good spirits, stay safe, and above all, stay healthy π
EPISD@HOME IPAD TIPS
MacBook Distribution 2020
EPISD@Home MacBook Tips
- The MacBook and the iPad are on two separate operating systems; macOS and iPadOS
- MacBooks can only update to the newest operating system when Technology Services pushes it out. iPads can update as soon as the update is released.
- All iPads and MacBooks are managed by the district and will need to use Self-Service to install apps.
- You cannot use communication programs such as Messages, or FaceTime on managed-devices.
- The AirDrop feature is disabled on all Macbooks.
- There will not always be an app on the MacBook like there is on the iPad. For example, Schoology, Class Dojo, Seesaw, and ClassLink do not have apps for the MacBook. You will need to go through the web to access these programs.
- Connecting to the WIFI on a MacBook takes fewer steps than on an iPad. Watch the video in English, or Spanish to learn how to do this.
Please make sure to contact your teacher if you have any questions or issues with your MacBook Air laptops, or you can call 915-230-2601 for technical assistance.
