'Back to School' Announcements
We have noticed several of our wonderful kiddos gone today, unfortunately, and want to remind our families that attendance is important to our student's education; we would love to see all of our students in attendance at school daily, as they miss out on opportunities for schoolwork.
Class Information
Math- Students will find missing supplementary angles, interior/exterior angles of triangles, and vertical angles using what they know about lines and triangles. Students learned this material in December. Today we will update our notebooks on these four theorems as a way of reviewing. Announcement: Today (Monday, January 4) students will recieve unit 4 week 1 homework. This is due by next Monday, January 11. Next Monday will be our unit 4 test review. Tuesday, January 12 is our unit 4 test over supplementary angles, interior/exterior angles of triangles, vertical angles, and parallel lines cut by transversals.
Science- Today students are completing a bell ringer to review independent and dependent variables. Afterwards, students are logging into study island to complete lessons on the impact of technology on science as well as scientific evidence. This semester, study island grades are going up to 30 points per week (20 points for doing all the questions, and 10 points based on the score students get on the study island questions.)
Social Studies- Students are reviewing the 3 branches of gov't and federalism today. We will be completing this Unit in the next 2 weeks
English Language Arts - Today we are reviewing main idea, supporting details, and answering questions using details from the text for Right There, Text and Me, On my Own, and Throughout the Text questions. This review is in preparation for our Argumentative Writng unit, of which we are starting on Wednesday.
Snow Closure and Delay Communication Reminder
North Kansas City Schools provides several ways for you to get the latest information on district school closings, including early release or a two-hour delayed start on days when weather is hazardous:
In case inclement weather causes the district to delay school start times or cancel classes for the day, these are the ways that information is communicated to the public:
1. District Website: www.nkcschools.org provides the first notification of school closings and other cancellations within minutes of a decision.
2. SchoolMessenger: Phone, email and optional text messages are sent to school families when classes are canceled, delayed or students are released early.
3. Social Media: We will post information at www.facebook.com/NKCSchools and www.twitter.com/NKCSchools.
4. Radio & TV: Local stations share announcements on-air and on their websites.
For those who received a letter this fall from Transportation regarding snow routes, alternate routes have been posted on the Transportation page at: http://www.nkcschools.org/transportation.
