HYBRID UPDATE!
Message from the Principal
We are looking forward to starting second semester on January 26th. On January 26th, all students will stay home and attend their classes remotely. Then, on January 27th, students will start attending school on their grade-level day following the new HYBRID 1.0 schedule whose only change is that the 9th grade day is switched to Thursday and the 12th grade day is switched to Monday.
Also, we are preparing for Hybrid 2.0 in which students will attend two days a week. When this happens, students will follow their normal schedule and attend class with all their teachers. The tentative start date is February 16th. If you did not fill out the survey to indicate whether your students will attend during Hybrid 2.0 - please do so by calling our main office at 302-834-0990.
Below is important information about our Hybrid Schedules. Please reach out with questions. You can call our main office or reach out to any Administrator, Counselor or Instructor through email or Schoology. You can also visit our WEBSITE for up-to-date information.
Also, we are very excited to announce that Mrs. Nathalie Princilus is joining our Hodgson team as an Assistant Principal. Mrs. Princilus has worked for many years in New Castle County Vo-Tech, just recently as Assistant Principal at Delcastle Technical High School. Mrs. Princilus' primary roles will be to oversee our Guidance Department, Mathematics and Special Education. Welcome Mrs. Princilus to our Silver Eagle family!
The second semester brings the opportunity to start fresh with academic courses. We know the difficulties of remote/hybrid learning. Keep forging ahead and remember that our Hodgson Staff are ready to help in anyway. We are #HVTSTRONG!
Take Care,
Dr. Colihan
HYBRID 1.0 Information and Starting Plans
IN-PERSON CLASS DAYS FOR 9th AND 12th GRADE TO SWITCH for HYBRID 1.0
In-person days for 9th and 12th grade will switch. Mondays will be for 12th grade in-person classes, and Thursdays will be for 9th grade in-person classes.
SECOND SEMESTER STARTS ON TUESDAY JANUARY 26th
This is a FULL Remote Day for ALL Students. Students will attend all their courses at the beginning of the class time. Please review the class schedule in the link below so they are NOT late on their first day of Second Semester.
All the student's teachers will have LIVE sessions. Look for those links in the Schoology courses. Students will learn important information about each of their courses such as the types information about the curriculum and the course requirements. Students will also meet your teacher and other classmates. The NORM for remote courses is students turn on your camera. This helps the teacher get to know their students and helps to promote fun and interesting activities.
HYBRID 1.0 STARTS on JANUARY 27th
Like before, this model has one grade level per day. The grade level days changed for 9th and 12th grade students. IF your student attends in person you will follow this new plan.
Students will report on their day:
- Monday 12th grade
- Tuesday 10th grade
- Wednesday 11th grade
- Thursday 9th grade
Since January 27th is a Wednesday, 11th grade students report to school. Then on Thursday, January 28th, 9th grade students will report.
More information will be provided about HYBRID 2.0. The tentative start date is February 16th.

Attention 9th grade parents and students - Career Rotations
The 9th grade exploratory process consists of 9th grade students visiting five career areas. We call these rotations. These rotations happen before students are placed into their accepted CTE program.
Currently, students have completed Rotation 4. All students will report to Rotation 5 on Tuesday, Jan 26. Due to COVID and the remote start of the school year, 9th grade students did not rotate through their assigned Rotation 1 listed on their schedules. In an attempt to not limit the students experience in Rotation 1, we have decided to add an additional rotation this year. Students will have the opportunity to rotate through their originally scheduled Rotation 1, during Rotation 6 which is reflected on student schedules. Rotation 6 starts on March 3rd.
Once students have gone through their rotations, they will participate in the “Reapplication'' process. This is when students pick their top career program choices. More information will be communicated in a few weeks about the specifics of the Reapplication process. Please reach out to any CTE Instructor or Mr. Mike Paoli, Assistant Principal with questions. michael.paoli@nccvt.k12.de.us
Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness at Hodgson Vo-Tech
Our faculty continues to participate in school and professional development around equity and inclusion through their participation with The Howard Group with Dr. Tyrone Howard and Equity and Beyond through Delaware State University with Mr. Ernest Blackwell. We have formed a DEI teacher committee who meets bi-monthly to focus on, explore and discuss how diversity, equity and inclusion relates to our school community. Additionally, selected staff members participated in UD/DASL Equity Focus Group providing insight to guide future plans.
Starting soon, Hodgson will start a student group called The FAM - Forever A Movement. This group welcomes all students to participate in student training and cultural recognitions. Also, we are participating in a special event to bring our student body together to inspire and promote Diversity and Inclusion on January 29th! See the Flyer Below!
Reach out to Mr. Jarrod Garnett if a student is interested in joining this group! jarrood.garnett@nccvt.k12.de.us.
