Picture Day - For In-Person and Remote Learners

Picture Day is for ALL Ferson Creek students and ALL Staff that teach both in-person and remote learners.

Picture Day will take place on Friday, November 13th. Ordering information is forthcoming.

Photographers will be set up in the front foyer and will maintain their social distance during the picture taking process.

Remote students are invited to have their pictures take from 2:00-4:00 pm on Friday, November 13th. To avoid overcrowding, we are asking that you sign up for a remote picture time here.

Retakes will be held on Monday, January 11th.

Yearbook Photos Needed!

Celebrating Halloween may look different this year but we still want to capture the cool costumes and fun! Remote and in-person families, please send your yearbook committee Halloween pictures. Have a spooktastic time!

Please send photos to Ashley Holdsworth at aholdswo@gmail.com via wetransfer.com.

Veterans Day

Although we won't hold our traditional Veterans Day Assembly at school this year, we will still be taking time to honor our veterans. On November 11th, all staff and students at Ferson will watch a pre-recorded Veterans Day program. Remote students will also have the link to this presentation, so they can view the Ferson Veterans Day program. The link to this program will be shared with all Ferson families so that you have the opportunity to view it as well.

If there is a veteran that you would like to recognize by having them included in our Veterans Day video, please email our LRC director Renee Ignoffo at sharon.ignoffo@d303.org. In your email, please include your child's name, the veteran's name, the veteran's relation to your child, a picture of the veteran, and branch of the military. Please send all pictures to Mrs. Ignoffo no later than Monday, November 2nd.

Additionally, we are looking for veterans who are willing to record a 30 second - 1 minute video to be used in our presentation. We would like veterans to share something they learned while serving, something they feel elementary students should know about being a part of the military, or ideas on how elementary students could show their support for those who are or have served. If you are interested, please send your recorded message to our LRC director, Renee Ignoffo at sharon.ignoffo@d303.org no later than Monday, November 2nd.

Thank you for helping us create a valuable presentation honoring our veterans!

Got Box Tops?

WE ARE STILL COLLECTING BOX TOPS! We will be submitting what we have before they expire. So, turn in any you may have hiding in your kitchen drawer BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!

If your package has a traditional Box Tops, cut it out and send it to the office in an envelope or plastic bag, making sure it has a valid expiration date. Double check the expiration date, as expired Box Tops do not count toward our earnings. You can also glue or tape the Box Tops to collection sheets for easy counting.

Eventually, the Box Tops program will become digital only. Participating brands are starting to change their packaging from a traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Top label. If you see the new Scan label, there is no need to clip anything; just use the new Box Tops app to scan your store receipt within 14 days of purchase. Box Tops are still worth $0.10 each for our school. The app will find participating products purchased at any store and instantly add cash to Ferson Creek's earnings online.

News From Physical Education

We are making the best of our Covid-19 guidelines while in P.E. as we reinforce safety and social distancing while moving, playing games and competing in challenges. The weather has been beautiful but it's getting chilly. Please make sure your student is prepared for outside Physical Education class with necessary layers, and hat and gloves if preferred. Our grassy areas are quite wet in the morning with dew so if you need to send a fresh pair of shoes to change into after PE, please do so. Tie or velcro tennis shoes work best. Slip-ons, such as VANS, frequently come off when running, kicking and strenuous movement. We will be utilizing our outdoor space as much as possible for as long as we can.

Please feel free to contact us if you have additional questions at

From the Nurse

We wanted to provide an update on important information regarding Covid exposure and return to school guidelines. The IDPH Exclusion Guidance is pictured below and also linked here for your reference.

Who is a Close Contact?

You are considered a CLOSE CONTACT of a COVID-19 positive person if you were within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more, regardless of whether either person was wearing a face covering, during the period the COVID-19 positive person is considered contagious.

If you have reason to believe that your child or another member of your family had a close contact from a Community exposure, please contact the Health Department at 630-208-3801 or your Primary Care Provider for guidance.

The role of the District 303 Nurse is to perform contact tracing specifically in relation to case evaluations that are directly associated with the school setting. Additionally, due to FERPA and HIPPA the Nurses are not at liberty to discuss student/family health status without their expressed consent.

Birthday Treat Bags

Please do not send birthday treat bags in to school to be distributed to classmates. While we appreciate the gesture, we cannot be sending home these types of items with students. Thank you for your understanding.

Dismissal - New Name Placards

All families should have received a new name placard this week to aide in our dismissal procedures. Please have the sign visible in your window to help expedite our pick-up procedures. If you didn't receive one, please call the main office and let us know.
The Federal Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) has been extended through June 30, 2021. As a result, any child between the ages of 1 and 18 is eligible to receive free meals at any District 303 site, as well as two off-site locations. It is not necessary to provide the names of the children receiving meals at the pick-up locations.

  • Elementary school students who attend in-person every day will receive free meals at school when they order lunch
  • Elementary school students who are learning remotely may pick up meals at any site
  • Middle school students who attend on the hybrid schedule may sign up to receive the next day's meal that will be distributed after school
  • Middle school students learning remotely may pick up at any site
  • High school students attending in-person may pick up meals after school.
  • High School students learning remotely may pick up meals at any site

Halloween Update

As Halloween is quickly approaching, I wanted to give an update on what that celebration will look like at Ferson this year. Plans for remote classroom celebrations with be forthcoming from remote teachers.

  • Students may wear costumes to school on Friday, October 30th. We will not be changing into costumes, so they will need to wear them the entire day.
  • Props representing weapons are not allowed.
  • Students should not wear costumes which promote gore, violence, or inappropriate imagery.
  • No costume face coverings or masks can be worn. Students will need to adhere to the CDC mask guidelines that have been in place since the first day of school.

We will not hold our typical Halloween parade this year. Our party will also look differently as parent volunteers are not permitted in the school at this time. Classroom teachers will be working with head room parents to determine needs for the party, if there are any. While Halloween celebrations will look differently at school, we know the students will still have a fun day!
